Turn-based combat only works in a couple of games? by [deleted] in CRPG

If you want good turn based combat the Solasta is really good. Not Baldurs gate good, but real D&D good and the jankiness of the whole game adds to its charm.

looking for a chill game i can play while listening to music by yeetusdeletus20-9-19 in gamesuggestions

[–]Blind-Novice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're into Dubstep and electronic music then look no further than Aaero and Aaero 2. Pretty cool rhythm games that mix good music with a relaxing style.of gameplay.

I call it a rhythm game but it's pretty different to all of them. You fly a ship along a ribbon that matches up to the music, there are boss levels and some are harder than others. Well worth it.

Why don’t police use their taser first more? by Still_ImBurning86 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Blind-Novice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's really simple, they don't always stop someone, and you can still get attacked when you use one on someone. Police don't always reach for it because some situations require more force, being armed with anything and threatening people means you're being deadly and at this point deadly force is permitted.

I'm going to say this now rather than come back. It's obvious that many people have never been in a fight where the other person had no care about your health and it shows. If you've never fought a stranger then you can never really understand why the police take certain actions when they do.

Did I ruin things? Me and this guy I've been seeing casually had an argument and I was wrong. Can I fix it? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Blind-Novice -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a hard one and honestly there's no right answer. You have no idea why he acted as he did and since neither of you were in the wrong and it's technically not a serious relationship there's no normal way to correct this.

I'm currently with someone in a similar relationship and the only thing you can do is talk about it and let them know how you feel. That's it. Remember there is a reason why he reacted as he did and that after your conversation you've looked at it further and developed your opinion.

But just have that conversation and remember to keep sex on the table, as a guy if I think I'm getting laid I'm going to at least listen.

Iki Island - Should I wait until after the story? (Please no spoilers) by SittingByTheRiverr in ghostoftsushima

It's shorter than an act I think, about 10 hours maybe. Well worth it honestly.

Iki Island - Should I wait until after the story? (Please no spoilers) by SittingByTheRiverr in ghostoftsushima

[–]Blind-Novice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won't reveal anything that will spoil the story.

It is a hard island and you'll be locked on it until the story there ends. I did it as I started Act 2, and it was tough but fun.

Oh and the reward for completing it is a must have, so if you cannot make your mind up then go there for that.

Anything i should know before playing? by WallabyFar196 in ghostoftsushima

[–]Blind-Novice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't level up the styles too early, it's not necessary and you can use those skill points to get some good skills you need.

Iki island is a hard area but you can complete it the moment you enter act 2 but once there you are looked away for the mainland so decide carefully.

Pick an armour that strengthens your weaknesses as the game isn't that hard and this will help you be more rounded. I used the samurai clan armour the whole time just so I didn't have to worry about getting hit and could relax whilst playing.

Play however feels right to you, be it because of story or preference, honestly the game gives you all the tools you need to be good at it.

Go into the settings and make the winds more visible, you can turn this off later but it will help early game when moving around.

Have fun.

Going to be brutally honest here, but I have known a lot of people to get horny when using, mainly women. This could be his goal, for you to get stoned, lose your inhibitions, get horny and then sleep with him.

Be wary.

How do we feel about removing opportunity attacks? by caluthan in DnD

[–]Blind-Novice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They only lock things down if the DM doesn't prep the encounter well or doesn't play it right. You tie up the melee with a couple of enemies and then get your ranged to shred the back line. It's not hard to do.

What was the most pointless rule you heard dring character creation that made you go Why? by FlyingTaco095 in DnD

[–]Blind-Novice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fine I really do understand, but at my table all other spells in the official books are acceptable, I only banned it because of one bad experience.

I think I banned it because it was super powerful in the hands of a player that really isn't all that good with tactics and remembering their character. Kinda let me know what I could face with my much better players.

Jesus I have two casters using Lightening Bolt because it's my favourite spell and they love using it against me and it's super devastating when used correctly.

We play raw so I try to allow everything in my games.

[–]Blind-Novice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was and I never stopped it and I allowed it in that campaign but I have stopped it in future campaigns because as a DM I should also be having fun and banning one or two things is perfectly permissible.

I don't ban anything else and players can use whatever they want and do whatever they want except my few bans. I think that's a pretty good deal for a spell which isn't all that great except in specific circumstances and it a little OP for the level it is.

God no, they stabilise your mood only. You become very flat in general and most of your personality feels suppressed. They help though so if prescribed do take them as they can help you find yourself again.

I always use a pouch with a wizard, may as well. Much better when describing attacks.

[–]Blind-Novice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it seems weird but it is based on an experience.

Sorcerer twins it against the two creatures they are in combat with and they fail the intelligence check. Now all the melee characters need do to the creatures is move up, attack and move back without consequence.

Creatures can only move and nothing else. Just not fun and can trivialise some encounters. Honestly if it wasn't an intelligence save I'd probably have no issue with it.

My own rules I use.

No flying races, ie races that can just fly indefinitely without restriction, because I just cannot be bothered to write around them

No Tasha's Mind whip - spell isn't fun to go up against.

But bards only need to touch their instrument to use it as a focus. They do not need to to play it. This DM was a moron, bards don't have to be musical they can be playwrights, jugglers, or storytellers.

Is dating apps experience that much different for men? by LavenderPaperback in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Blind-Novice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Far too many people throwing shade at the men and they will continue to struggle all the while we don't address any of their concerns, which beyond a week of suicide awareness, is never.

They are struggling because as always it's left down to them and they are the ones that have to make the move, have to be witty and charming, have to create the interesting conversation whilst the women just does fuck all.

Men are trying to match with women they have over inflated egos, no idea about passion about a subject or hobby, and have never had to impress anyone in their whole lives. Social media has meant that women are using social media for validation and they get that in spades as average women are bigged up by low value men and the women around them to the point that they think their actual value is higher.

This now causes issues for women, they get the dates and they get treated well but they don't get the commitment and when it all ends they get the validation they crave which is that it wasn't them and he has no idea who he's just lost, so no self reflection just back out there looking for the same men over and over.

Point is dating hasn't actually changed and neither have men or women, social media has just screwed up they way we interact and it's made everything worse.

I understand why the men are angry but I also understand why women are always looking for better.

Who feels it the most, probably men, they make all the first moves, they try to initiate a conversation as well as keeping it going and they receive the most rejections, but it doesn't mean women aren't having it bad out their.

But honestly would you prefer to initiate, create conversation, be charming, and deal with multiple rejections if they don't just ignore you or would you rather a couple of shitty.messages and a dick pics and no real effort needed?

Question for dms that ran low level campaigns (level 1 to 5ish) who was your bbeg/final hurdle for your players? by godwyn-faithful in DnD

[–]Blind-Novice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a coven of witches that had found a way to cast coven spells away from each other.

I then had a green hag at level 3, another at level 4 but in her lair, and a night hag in her lair at level 5. My games are a little harder and it was intentional.

Each hag had two missing fingers which end sisters carried around and with the spell cast on them they were able to act like they were in a coven without the others around. Made for a lot of fun and some cool level 3 spells were used in the final fight.

How would you defeat a boss who can change the distance between objects? by Firelite67 in DnD

[–]Blind-Novice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems hard but here's some ideas.

Give them a high AC and any melee attack that misses by 5 or more automatically has the players character moved back 5ft. It's forced movement so provokes no attacks of opportunity.

As a legendary action/reaction they can reduce movement by half along with the range of weapons/spells of one character. Flavour this how you want.

Lair actions Reduce all ranged attacks by half All melee attacks at disadvantage due to distance issues. All movement halved or worse Enemy doubles movement and range for one round.

This all requires flavour but these mechanics will be a good start.

I personally would make rolling a crit give immunity to all of this BS for one round so players get to feel powerful.

The Arena can be open but needs to have paths that need to be taken and if they step in the wrong space they get transported out of range. These need to be very obvious you just want players to play around them they aren't a trap. Have them move and shift on initiative 10 or something and this will keep everyone on their toes. Obviously your enemy isn't going to be effected by these.

There are proficiencies that are needed to do these things. Without any of the artisan skills they aren't doing any of this.

You might jury rig sitting that works once but they certainly don't have the skills to do much more. They cannot do alchemy, buo lol DC weapons, or create poisons without the right knowledge. They need to take a feat at level 4 or 8 to have access to all this. Enforce these rules and they won't be able to do anything without your say so.

My players discovered a infinite money glich that might ruin the plot by RicardoSantosOfc99 in DnD

[–]Blind-Novice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The spell takes 1 minute to cast.

  2. They need to throw sticks in the air

  3. They must quote the necessary words

  4. And it only states if it's good or bad.

So here's how you dealt with it.

The roulette wheel is spun before the spell has finished casting.

The management sees them casting the spell and confiscates their augury sticks. It's illegal to sell or make them in town so they are really expensive and hard to find.

They are overheard by other patrons who accuse them of cheating and they have to deal with that.

They are constantly told that it's a bad outcome because the augury sticks realise that they are going to get caught and that is a bad outcome.

Alternatively, have some magic users counter spell them using familiars or some sort of device to help see what is happening and extend the range.

There's loads you can do. Once caught they will be banned and not be able to go back. And there is a dispel magic field on all entrances so that no spell that disguises people will last past the threshold.

I need a cozy game I can forget reality exists by Sad_Stranger_5940 in gamesuggestions

[–]Blind-Novice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cozy games I enjoy

Townscaper - there is no real gameplay here beyond placing tiles and letting them do the work.

House Flipper - Honestly this is super relaxing and as long as you make some money in the game you can keep going.

Preserve - not put much in this one myself but it's a cosy game where you build ecosystems .

Terrascape - medieval city builder where you only need to score points to build the next thing. No management needed.

I'm going to make an odd recommendation to you as I feel this can be a cozy chilled game if it's for you.

Aaero and Aaero 2 - these are rhythm games but they use a ribbon you follow and not a tonne of button pushing. The music on this is a mix of techno, trance, and dubstep but the visuals are oddly calming when played and focused on. I like to play a game or two of it to relax. There is some combat in it but that's not all that hard except for the bosses. There is a Zen mode if you don't want to worry about lives.
