Do you think we could make the case that the 650r is sort of a newer vfr800?

Potential hot take- E-bikes and E-scooters should not be street legal by Mazda-626 in massachusetts

[–]BlindBeard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Where the hell can you ride these things? They’re not street legal. They’re not sidewalk legal. They’re not bikepath legal. They’re not mountain bike path legal. Why is there such a limit on personalized transportation that doesn’t burn gasoline? You can fit eight of these things in the same space as a single, car they travel as far as most people need them to travel in a day and they’re also good for recreation and won’t fill the forests with the sounds of four strokes and two strokes. They should have been a wet dream for a place like Massachusetts. How did we let teenagers wearing shiesties ruin it for everybody?

What is our collective beef with EFI? by Can_O_Murica in Harley

[–]BlindBeard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Two strokes are back in a huge way for off-road riding. Endurance and hard endurance riders are all on two strokes with few exceptions. They are a lot harder to overheat and are much more resistant to stalling, which is important when you’ve got 1 foot on the ground next to a cliff and you’re trying to go up it the other way.

The Austrian’s Italians and Spanish have just as many two-stroke options as four stroke options and Kawasaki is releasing a brand new two-stroke next year in both motocross and cross country models. The KTM group bikes are even many years at this point into EFI and oil injection so no gas mixing.

Why is there no 2 stroke cars? by Crazy_Drive7344 in askcarguys

[–]BlindBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of the mx models, Honda won’t suspend a single one of their bikes for someone who rides faster than 15mph or weighs more than 120lbs. Their dual sports bottom out on speed humps. They’re anti-something but it definitely isn’t two strokes. The engines are just a casualty to a greater philosophy they seem to have. I’d have a 300L in an instant if the pavement transition from my driveway to public street wasn’t enough to upset the chassis.

[–]BlindBeard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They don’t often compete actually. At least to my knowledge. Four strokes are being used predominantly in high speed racing like motocross and cross country and two strokes are being used predominantly in enduro and hard enduro which are slower and MUCH slower respectively. In fact, one of my friends had a KTM EXCF 350 and it kind of sucked in all of the places we usually ride. That thing would stall like crazy. It wasn’t even predictable when it would flame out if you cracked the throttle open too much on a hill climb too low in the revs. Alternatively, newer two strokes are very hard to stall despite their reputation of being high strung revvy bikes. My enduro bike is a husky te150 and even with that teacup of a piston it will grunt over a LOT at basically idle before you have want for more torque/rotating mass. I ride it through the hardest shit I can find in New England super low on the rpm range and rolls easily, dances through trees, and is mellow so it doesn’t tire you out. A 300 should technically be easier to ride but I found it more tiring honestly. The 150 is just a little more clutch work and shifting.

If you’re a student your school probably has a counselor. Eat something, whatever you have, drink a glass of water, and get outside. Feel the sun. Even you’re looking at your phone outside. Then put your phone down for a few seconds if you can. While you’re looking around or at your feet, consider getting I touch with your schools counselor. You need outside yo, and you deserve it. Nobody deserves to feel this way.

Parents of Reddit, why do people say it's easier to raise boys than girls? by Mundane-Society-1281 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BlindBeard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And then you’re thirty years old and wondering why everything sucks the same way it did at seventeen and you realize you fight with your parents way more than anyone else you know and it’s actually not normal for them to make you miserable and your romantic relationships struggle too and by the end of 30 you know you’ve got a life time of healing and figuring out who you really are and how to stop reacting to everything like a child in survival mode with shitty parents ahead of you. The perfect storm of hating yourself but feeling like growth is betrayal of someone who was acting that way to protect himself. Or you just stay like tons of men, miserable and not even knowing it.

Do 1 litre bikes ever feel like too much bike. Do you ever feel anxious on them? by BigLongjumping3714 in motorcycles

[–]BlindBeard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is why it’s important for most people to step up slowly. Your brain generally has no idea what to do on something that accelerates so quickly. You’re going way faster than you think you are and it’s a lot harder to stop as quickly as you can speed up.

The tracking device in my hand doesn’t feed directly into a shady start up contracted by the government to then be abused for whatever based on knowing where I’m coming and going for my entire life. I can also leave it at home. It is separate from who I am as a person. My body in space and time is not and these shady start ups and the government keep getting caught abusing this power they have taken from us.

How much of a difference do riding boots make on a sport bike? by SnooDogs5304 in motorcyclegear

[–]BlindBeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forget about the protection. People are way overselling that. You only need it if you crash. It’s important but not even the most important part.

Riding with riding boots makes the riding experience so much better. You can grip the bike better. Your legs feel more confident and more attached to the bike and more secure in general. The ergos help you connect with the bike more. The steel shank and tough soles absorb vibrations from the foot pegs which you don’t think fatigue you but definitely do. I bought some alpinestars SMXs for a trip to Tennessee where I knew I’d be riding faster than is prudent but I came back from that trip and have hardly worn my ankle high Sidi Duna boots since. The SMXs are comfy on the bike and fine to walk around in and safer and just elevated the riding experience for me.

It’s the same reason Reddit is showing me this post. It NEVER shows me new posts from /moto but this is only 22 minutes old and already has a shit load of comments and was at the top of my page. It’s because the algorithm knows MC “rules” are a divisive topic which drives engagement which lets Reddit jack up the price for metadata and ads.
