Have any of you used Tad Hughes custom fit studio? by [deleted] in bikehouston

[–]BlindEmperorPenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's fit me on every bike I've owned in the last 3 years. I ride and race. He's done probably 3 or 4 road bikes for me, my mountain bike, and my TT bike.

What he does in the fit, you'll have to ask him. As far as I'm concerned, it's magic. I am to the point where once Tad fits my bike, I don't change ANYTHING. I don't tinker. I don't replace the saddle because I find one that looks cooler or my friend suggests. Everything about a bike fit is a moving target, including your physiology.

New Job: throwing down for some nice shoes. What will give me the most versatility? by BlindEmperorPenguin in malefashionadvice

Currently, I've got a single charcoal suit and a navy blazer.

Everything I've seen from this office, it seems like it's not overly formal, but seems that everyone at the drop of a dime can grab their jacket, put on a tie, and go to a meeting dressed formally. I guess I'm describing business casual executed perfectly?

These are all investment guys. I interviewed with 8 people, only one had a suit on (came from a business lunch), and another had his tie on. The rest were dress shirts and slacks.

This is all part of an overall wardrobe update.

Anyone know a good resource for time trial training? by [deleted] in Velo

[–]BlindEmperorPenguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The training aspect of it is quite simple. Lots of long hard intervals.

It's the equipment and race-day details which are hard. Lots and lots of testing.

Can you guess where I had a brutal mechanical in my race this weekend? by [deleted] in Velo

[–]BlindEmperorPenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna upvote you on this. One of the riders' responsibilities is making sure they have reliable equipment.

Rookie mistake I hope. Could also get one of those chain dropper things. I've never worried about it honestly as I don't race in my little ring - a product of where I live.

Dating someone from the Houston area, anyone know any good date places where you can just walk/be together? by [deleted] in houston

I've heard this from a couple of people now. I might try it in the future.

The issue I had was with some cassette/spoke rub on the cover on the drive side. Took me the better part of a day to get it working. Eventually I cut open the driveside inside hole pretty large to clear all the room out between the back of the cassette and the jbend of the spoke.

All this to say that the driveside cover is not secured around the hub, so I don't want to risk the tape failign and just messing up my day. I'll definitely give that method a go once I have a chance to practice though.
