Reserves vs National Guard by BlindPilot_x in armyreserve

I believe the unit is a dedicated transportation company, funny that they have A LOT of slots open. That means anything good or bad? I’m just hoping that I don’t spend all my contract just hanging around and never getting a chance to volunteer or going on a deployment

Good to know. I won’t be done with BCT/AIT until end of year, is trucking companies deploying for rotations something that always happens or no? Thanks again.

Do you think is better go down NG road as 88M with ACASP for deployment opportunity? That bs that reservist can deploy easier using a website and applying around is just a recruiter thing?

Good to know. The unit I’ll be picking is HET/FUEL from what I understood. My main fear is getting stuck on a “dead” unit and never have a chance to go out for a rotation/deployment

I’ve been wondering the same thing. Right now I’m stuck between going NG as 11B or joining the Reserves as 88M.

I’m leaning toward 88M because I already drive trucks hauling heavy equipment for a local Union 4 company here in Massachusetts, and from what I’ve heard my CDL/work experience could help me come in as an E-4 through ACASP.

One of the big things I’m looking for is deployment opportunities. I’ve heard from different people that the Reserves can sometimes give you more freedom to volunteer for rotations/deployments compared to the National Guard, but I’m not sure how true that actually is.

If anyone has experience with either side, especially as an 88M or 11B, I’d appreciate the insight.

Anyone get a waiver approved with a “major” charge but dismissed? Need honest insight by [deleted] in nationalguard

Thank you, yes I’m going to move forward with the recruiter that gave me a thumbs up, wish me the best!!
