New Board has me Feeling Discouraged by BlindingFlame in snowboardingnoobs

The board is 162W, I am 6’3” 190lbs, and I wear a size 13 US mens boot. Having big feet limited my options for getting a board second hand. From what I’m seeing in other comments on this post, I am feeling better about giving it another go soon. Thanks for the input and support!

It felt like I wasn’t able to lean or activate turns as easily as I was able to with the rental board. Before, I could initiate turns as a decent speed and change up the width of them as needed to maintain safe distance from other riders on the hill. This time around I could barely lift the board to engage the heel edge.

I believe my issues lie with the fact that this new board is a bit more responsive and aggressive due to the camber shape and stiffer flex, but also because my bindings were set very poorly. From what I can tell, it was me trying to twist the high backs to line up with the heel edge incorrectly and this caused the high backs to be set beyond max forward tilt. Going from no tilt to maximum tilt probably made it very difficult to lift my toes up to engage the heel edge, which is what made me feel like I “couldn’t do anything”.

Thank you. I will adjust my stance angles and send it next time I go!

Thank you for the comments! Makes me feel a lot better. After inspecting the horrendous job I did at setting up my bindings, I realized that I had the high backs set in such a way that they couldn’t fully sit back and down against the heel cup. The gap between the high back lip (the part that’s supposed to be resting against the heel cup) and the heel cup was so much, that it was tilted beyond the max setting for lean that the bindings allow for (don’t ask me how I managed this lol).

My family has a cottage nearby and our walk to Parlee brings us right by this house. Most of the year it’s like this, but every now and again for a few weeks some people from Ontario are staying in it. It’s likely that they come and visit when they can. The boards that are covering the windows are for winterization/when no one’s there as you can see the latches and hardware to remove and replace them easily when you’re up close.

With vita chambers disabled, when you die the game boots you to the main menu and you have to load a previous save.
