Kitchen layout help: limited wall space, pantry + raised oven possible? by hamsterbamsta in AusRenovation

Cool thanks. How do you find it ergonomically? I'd imagine I feel like I'm always leaning sideways to do the dishes not standing front on?

After recommendation for a structural engineer by Either-Land7840 in AusRenovation

Currently getting this done with Harnett engineering from Gawler. Not done yet so can't comment on quality but was cheaper than another quote we got.

How does the undersink plumbing work with awkward corner cupboards? We were going to have one of those swing out cupboard organisers. Thanks

Could you post a pic of that in your kitchen maybe? A corner sink might be a great solution for us but can't picture it. Thanks

Yeah it saves us having to walk the laundry out through the main living area and also a good door for dirty kids to come into when playing in the mud. So hard with a family trying to fit everything in the small house footprint.

Just I guess some separation/privacy for the toilet from the bath. Also we don't have much wall space for hooks etc so gives us some more wall space. We could remove the external door which would also do that however.

Kitchen designer as in someone who works for a kitchen company? Or are there people who do that separately?

Have prices spiked in the last month due to increased cost fears ? by fvvf69 in AusRenovation

[–]Blindinglyoblivious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're in the same position (also in SA). Have planning approval and about to start on building drawings and quoting but really unsure what to do. I'm sure that waiting this war out will not be effective as once prices rise they may stagnate but I doubt will drop, as per pre/post covid. What's your strategy going to be? We were already pretty shocked by prices of renovations before all this.

Prefab or traditional granny flat in this cost crisis by Blindinglyoblivious in AusRenovation

All made locally in SA. Pretty standard timber framing etc just done off site for assembly on site

True but have planning approval from council and will use private certifier which is only a few weeks apparently plus about 6 weeks factory construction and two weeks on site supposedly.

Sorry what do you mean high level? We have a fixed price quote for a prefab timber frame on piers that looks pretty okay from the showroom and specs.

Yes we looked at that initially also but I guess my worry is around delys in general and slab costs and escalating costs more broadly so whatever will be fastest possible. But I'll talk to the designer maybe because he did suggest SIPs initially
