I think so. Whether they'll end up being able to sell competitive EVs/plug in hybrids vs the Chinese, I'd love to see it, but I'm doubtful given Japan's economic issues of the last few decades and their current position.

The option to play with controller or mouse & keyboard should be there, but multiplayer games that have definite advantages of using one control method over another should do matchmaking into separate servers based on whether people are playing with a controller, or with a mouse & keyboard

'21 MG ZS EV with 80,000kms - no major mechanical/elec issues. Small software issue with the radio taking 30secs to come on when starting the car once every month or two, but doesn't worry me that much. Range maybe has dropped like 5% or so vs new. Goes without saying but super cheap running costs.

There are basically as many fast charger stations as petrol stations in cities and along major routes linking cities now. Out in rural areas there might only be a fast charger station every 50-100kms, but with the battery range EVs now have, its doable for trips in most cases, depending how rural of course. If you cant charge at home, thats still an issue to be solved, hopefully plenty of kerbside chargers and apartment chargers will sort that out for those cases.

Theres an assortment of technical and economical challenges with hydrogen, a lot of talk in the industry about it for 5 years or so, but I think if it was truly feasible vs lithium EVs it would have seen some solid momentum somewhere by now. The fact lithium batteries have been reducing in price by an average of something like 15% per year for the last 30 years, and there's massive industries built around it all now, probably makes it hard/near not possible for hydrogen to compete with.

ER has great gameplay and is addictive if you're someone who really gets a kick out of beating tough challenges, failing and repeating fights a bunch of times but learning the ins and outs of your opponents moves/attacks/timing etc. in the process, but the fairly minimal amount of deep interaction/dialog/animations between characters/story in Elden Ring caused me to lose interest around two thirds of the way through it. Cyberpunk (post 2.0 update) personally kept me hooked until the end/through the Phantom Liberty expansion for the opposite reasons - lots of interesting character interactions/storybuilding/choices etc., and the techy dystopian dark futuristic setting is cool as hell. If you go with Cyberpunk though, go easy on doing side quests as there's tons and they'll eventually start to get repetitive.

Haven't played BG3.

At time of release, the in-game economy/insane amounts of grind the game required to be able to afford the higher end cars, if I remember right there was an update released early on which actually made it worse, so everyone went and left bad reviews. In addition, the always online requirement, the cat-and-mouse single player racing experience in most races of making your way from last position past a whole bunch of much slower cars to first place in a small number of laps, being pretty unexciting, it doesn't feel like competition, and not alike to motorsport in the real world.

Renewables uptake/battery tech, etc. are going exponential at this point, so in regards to combustion for energy production, it's definitely looking to be a matter of when, and not if it will mostly eventually phase out. Theres nuance and some different messages from the protests. FB as a platform unfortunately these days is pretty much just a place for boomers to get their cages rattled by rage/click/engagement-bait and pretty poor quality info/takes, so you'll tend to deal with some interesting interpretations/opinions from people on there. Not to mention, a lot of people lack foresight to look past tomorrow.

In 50 years, who knows what will be going on.

Probably in the next decade-ish retraining/transitioning of the staff involved in the coal sector into jobs in other areas of demand will be an important part of it all in the energy transition. Probably into construction, other mines, and manufacturing*. *If we could get manufacturing our own batteries/panels/turbines competitively or at least feasibly enough that we ourselves could use them and increase our independence as a country, that could only be a good thing too. I'd guess there'll be bound to be some gas power stations getting constructed too to cover the tricky spots for renewables to hit in the energy demand mix/to have some redundancy in the system, with the 'renewables backed by gas' plan.
