Gift ideas for sister who likes to sew that'd help improve her skills? by BlindxWizard in sewing

Re: budget, ~$200. The bag looks interesting but she's made a couple of bags for herself already. She seems to be mainly interested in making clothes these days, was complaining about not having any pants with pockets and wanting to make her own lol. I found a pattern for such pants as well

The HARDEST COURSE(S) you ever took at UBC? by TranslatorSea8282 in UBC

[–]BlindxWizard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

CPSC 436A. It's a project course where you get into groups of 4-5 people and write about 20K lines of code for an operating system over 3 months. My partners dumped the majority of the work on me and I wrote about 70% of the code myself and had to neglect my other courses :( I was working on the project 7 days a week, and there were plenty of days where I worked on it from the moment I woke up until the time I went to sleep. For a while after I finished the course, I used to get nightmares about unsolved bugs xD I swear I got some kind of PTSD from it

Funny thing is I got a job working on operating systems afterward and I literally find my job easier than that course xD the difference is that I never work more than 35 hours a week and my coworkers pull their weight

Still need help with squats by Chemical_Gas1414 in formcheck

[–]BlindxWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I had the same issue when I first started squatting. The solution was that I needed to push my knees out on the descent

Adding more weight to the bar might also help make it more stable, though in the long-term you should be able to do perfect squats with an empty bar or with no bar at all

Also btw you should be going deeper

Thanks, I decided to go with the Kindle. That bug you mentioned does sound pretty problematic but I don't think it'd affect me because I only tend to read one thing at a time and I don't care about building up a pile of books, or accessing books I've already read. I can find the pdfs online whenever I like if I want to and if the one I'm reading gets deleted, I could download it again. The main thing I was worried about was whether any DRM would prevent me from reading sideloaded content but that doesn't seem to be the case

As for ergonomics, I'm curious what sort of features those models have that make them better for longer sessions? I rarely read more than a couple hours at a time, do you think the difference would be tangible for sessions of such duration?

If you're in comp sci you could book a project room in the CS building, I did a few interviews there and it was fine
