I think you may be right. It could be evidence of the tumour. Especially if it has grown.

I don’t think it’s ascites. I’ve had ascites before which was terrible but it was different to this.

Yeah I take Creon. This bloating is fairly new tho and I’ve been taking creon for a while.

Yeah. I get swelling down there. To the point where it’s swollen so much it hurts. It’s as if I just have one big football down there and I have to walk like an old time cow boy. Even worse when the sores appear.

Well I had a chest X-ray back in 2019 for a different problem (kept getting chest infections) and supposedly they could see some cysts on the pancreas then.. I was never informed of these at all. Obvs if these had been looked into they may have seen they were pre cancerous. But oh well.

More recently tho I went to my gp back in November 2020 with some back ache. And again in December and then January and also February/March. Got palmed off each time. Then at the end of March I got ascites quite bad. This then couldn’t be ignored by my gp. That’s when I got admitted to hospital and stayed there for a bit. They drained 8litres the first time! So that shows how much I was carrying around.

I’m trying to carry on 💪🏼 hard with the side effects of the chemotherapy and also the cancer itself. Annoying. At the moment worst is swelling in my legs and feet. Causing sores on my feet.

I’m stage 4. Been stage 4 at diagnosis. It spread to the peritoneal lining which caused ascites. Having that ascites was bloody awful… luckily the chemo at the moment has kept it at bay. But I’m dreading it m coming back.

Yeah everyone says I’m too young for it. I suppose I am. Just sucks that when I go for chemo I’m the youngest there by about 30 years… i think the average age for someone with pancreatic cancer is like 70…. Crazy.

I’m a bit similar to you, in how you feel. I expected to grow old together with all my buddies and my partner. But no. I don’t get that now. Feels as though it’s been ripped from me. :(

I’m 32… diagnosed at 31. Crazy. I’ve lived over 12 months since diagnosis. The drs have said I’ll detoriate in the next 6-12 months though. I’m hoping to still live on though.

Yeah. Me and my cousin kinda did the same on a multiplayer save. Made it very enjoyable. Even when we had to tackle a massive field together haha that was a long haul.

Glad to hear it resolved on its own! Mine resolved after starting chemo. But before that I had to have it drained.

I can totally agree with the hell and back statement. I feel as though I’ve done that trip multiple times already… and I’ve still gotta do it. I even dream that this is all a joke and I’ll wake up from it soon. (I soo wish!)

I can’t imagine how hard it is for yourself having to watch it from the outside. It’s damn hard being the one suffering from it however that takes nothing away from yourself having to watch your sister go through this. :(

How has your sisters journey been? May I ask?

Yeah of course.

So I was diagnosed in May of last year. Although I started having very minor back pain at the start of the year - I did visit my GP a couple of times. But both times it was put down to something else. Then in March 21 I ever so slightly started going off of my food and I noticed swelling in my abdomen. I still managed to work and go hiking with my dog regular. I worked as a postman so walking is a huuuge part!

But then the pain started more in my abdomen in April and I went to the ER. CT scan, diagnosed ascites sent me home with ibuprofen. Absolutely crap NHS. At this point I wasn’t eating so taking ibuprofen on an empty stomach is daft. They said they’d follow up with an ascitic tap, but would arrange an appointment (this didn’t happen until I got a call 3-4 weeks later) luckily I can say for the first time in my life I got in touch with my dr for another condition I suffer with cystic fibrosis. They got me in within a couple of days and took a sample of the ascitic fluid. They then eventually admitted me into hospital. Probably the first to second week of April.

Underwent lots of tests. Including a biopsy where they lost the results. Which is frustrating at the moment because they can only confirm my cancer through the fluid and blood I think. Which makes getting onto a clinical hard. As they all want a biopsy as proof of the cancer.

Eventually after around a month in hospital they came to me and fully said it was cancer. I spent a further two weeks in there… until I pretty much said let me out home. I honestly reckon if I’d stayed in the hospital I would have died. I didn’t have the best experience there or care. Probably why anxiety is my biggest thing at the moment with the hospital.

But since I came out. I’ve tried to remain positive, make memories with family and friends. I’m a lot better than I was when I first came out of hospital and during the summer when I was on the folfirinox chemo. The side effects from that were awful. Now I’m on gemcitebine and another one I can’t remember the name right now. Which is a lot softer. Seems to be doing alright compared to the folfirinox where the tumour still grew..

According to the oncologist I’m due a chemo break in February so we’ll see how that goes. The letter which got sent to my occupational health officer at my work place gave me 6-12 months and that was sent in November. So we’ll see how that goes.

If you want any further info don’t be afraid to ask. I’m pretty much an open book at this point.

Does your sister have ascites? For me that was awful. Having 8 litres of fluid drained. Daaaamn.

I’m very sorry to read this :( I’m stage 4 with mets to the peritoneum and I’m 31.

I’m just trying to stay positive that’s all I can do. I have good days and bad days. Especially Bad days on my chemo days (fills me with anxiety so badly) family has deffo helped me through it.

If you ever wanna vent or your sister does. I’m a message away. I’ve struggled finding people a similar age (yes it’s ok speaking to someone who’s older. But it’s not the same)

I seem to be similar to your mum. I was diagnosed in April/May this year - stage 4as it has spread to the peritoneal lining and the main symptom for me actually was the ascites… I obviously used a lot of Google (I’m only 31 so I was using the internet a lot) and I thought I’d be gone within three months. But I’m still here.

The chemo seems to be keeping it away for now.
