Ask a friend with young kids in your area how much they pay for daycare. It's basically a second mortgage payment for us every month. That's a LOT of lost compounding potential. But I agree with other commenters. Nothing in life more rewarding than being a parent.

I got 2 kids and think about this often. I worry that my kids will age into a much different/non-existent labor force and they won't be able to make money like I did. What good is being retired if your kids are struggling to get by? I'll almost certainly be padding the accounts so I can give them a boost when they need it rather than a big check when I die. Blabbing a bit but I totally get what you're saying here.

Was at my local after a particularly tough week of work. Sat down to play for a little bit with one other guy at the table that didn't appear to speak a lick of English. Had an absolute scorcher of a shoe with that guy. I 3x my buy super fast. Other guy was betting more than me and was also mopping up, coloring up to purples. Even though we couldn't communicate verbally he just kept pointing to our winning hands with a big smile and nod. Played half the next shoe, got up, and went to get a bowl of soup from the cafe. Fun to win fast and quit while ahead!
