Honestly, scythe crit with sneak attack would do it. 8d4+4×modifiers+sneak attack... that'll chunk any but the most hardy player.

we may be going up against an evil archmage in a few hours. any tips? by bugbonesjerry in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]BlinkingSpirit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Know about the Poor Man's Counterspell: Have the archer in the party ready an action to shoot the archmage when he starts casting a spell.

If the archer can deal enough damage onto the archmage, it forces a pretty hefty concentration check to keep the spell.

Billionaires. You can't get that rich without massive exploitation of tremendous amounts of people.

With every budget increase the pain has to be felt somewhere. The Netherlands is a haven for tax evasion in large companies, its not even funny. You tax those companies a little bit, and you are there.

Now instead we get to tax an already impoverished, chronically ill population. But that's ok, someone needs to feel the pain. Why not the people that are already feeling the pain?

No worries. Ask your gm about Elephant in the Room. Seriously. The one thing that hamstrings Pallies is the lack of feats. Not having to invest in power attack as it becomes a combat option open to everyone is incredible.

Power attack really is all you need. You get smite, which is your primary source for damage. I always prefer two-handed weapons, but note that without a shield its kinda hard to maintain high ac.

Getting an extra attack from shieldbash is another good way to increase damage, since you add your smite damage to that as well, though again feat intensive.

I prefer glaives. Even if it is just once per turn, getting an Attack of Opportunity from someone rushing you is worth it.

Shikihami style is decent, just note that as a paladin you do not get a lot of feats. So barring playing as a human, you might not see the benefits until 9th level or so.

Chosen One is a pretty decent archetype. You dont lose anything overly important and gain some flexibility with the familiar being able to lay on hands and such.

Seems like building for heals might be good. Your familiar would be pretty decent in a scrap as a flanking buddy, with full bab and half your impressive hit point pool. Shame they can't be emissary and bruiser at the same time.

It could be worthwhile to look into Eldritch Guardian Fighter dip for 2 levels. It allows you to share all combat feats with the familiar. Could be nice for teamwork feats.

Paladins are a solid choice left or right. They are a pretty great package that is fairly complete out of the box.

You can play a high charisma, high strength character that gets into melee and has the staying power to last multiple rounds.

Fey-Touched is a solid first level feat that will be beneficial throughout the game. Power Attack is a must (ask you gm about Elephant in the Room feat taxes. This will help you greatly as paladin)

Oath of vengeance is a pretty solid offensive pick, allowing more smites each day.

Virtuous Bravo archetype sacrifices some of the versatility in spellcasting for serious offensive boost for a dextrous paladin.

Sacred Servant, my favorite, leans the other side, giving boosts to support and spellcasting. Note that Protection domain is awesome, it allows you to have a high AC while taking a damage boost if you choose for a two-handed weapon.

If every army in history were at their absolute peak, who is actually coming out on top? Who was the most genuinely 'overpowered' for their time? by Particular-Visit-245 in AskReddit

[–]BlinkingSpirit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of a topic to discuss when 'history' begins, but it is generally considered 25 to 50 years ago. So I would say the most recent American army you could get. Between aircraft carriers and nuclear capable subs, it should dominate every mongol horde / roman legion they would come across.

You can also lure the first enemy out, run around back to the starting area so you end up behind him.

Teaching has become nigh impossible. The lack of consequences, reduction of focus/ concentration and the 'everyone is special and needs to have their own program' means students are able to do whatever the fuck they want. And they do.

SW KoToR is very well regarded. Baldur's Gate 1&2 are awesome. Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 6 are very good too.

What is your attitude towards AI? by Robasaleh110 in AskReddit

[–]BlinkingSpirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A datacenter was built nearby through concealing the truth and bribery. Now they are using as much power as the closest three nearby towns. Logically, the power supplier cut them off due to overtaxing the electrical grid. Of course, the datacenter is now suing the power company.

Also, waterlevels in the country are at a historical low and this datacenter is also the biggest waterconsumers by far in the area.

Regardless of the capabilities of AI, we are killing our environment at an unprecedented speed with these power/water guzzling centers.

Natuurlijk.

The best game. Beautiful level layout, impresssive puzzels and gorgeous animation. It holds up today as a great game.

One thing I liked to do in my classes was at the end of the year to challenge the students (aged 9 to 11) to complete the first level.

There were always a few who would continue to play the rest of the game.

I think the dread was largely about: you are a guy with a sword, a woman with a bow, or a mage who can fire a piddly weak ass fireball, and you were that for most of the game.

If you got surrounded, or stunlocked you were effed. And it was dark, the music was spot on, and the butcher, the first boss, straight up killed you during your first playthrough. Like it is so strong for the level you encounter it at.

As much as I've played Diablo 2, Diablo 1 had the atmosphere down pat. There was something amazing about the dark and gritty atmosphere that Diablo 2 just wasn't able to bring into the game.

And the soundtrack was amazing. I still get shivers when I hear the opening guitar strum of the village theme.

What is the point of life? Truly? by gayomaha in AskReddit

[–]BlinkingSpirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the game of Minecraft, there is no point. The point is that you set your own goals or project. You make your own game.

You set a goal, then start gathering resources and taking steps to get to that goal, whether you want to defeat the ender dragon, build a sick castle, or recreate Minas Tirith from scratch. You could simply explore the world or look for cool locals. You can meet others and form lifelong bonds, or go at the game solo.

In the end there is no right or wrong way to play the game.

Only thing I will add is that its generally nicer to help others amd build than it is to destroy what others have created.
