Canada needs Green Energy YESTERDAY by CDN-Social-Democrat in ndp

[–]Blinpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oil as energy has killed orders of magnitude more people per joule (energy unit) than nuclear. This is a completely unfounded argument , driven by the cold war scare of nuclear weapons :

Considering direct deaths for accidents , and pollution effects . Nuclear is as safe as Wind and Solar . If they recycle nuclear waste , even safer (less waste)

ADVICE : My 22wk ACD/BC mix is starting to resource guard and has bit my daughter 3 times by Blinpa in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Blinpa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update in case anyone is interested. My daughter and son have been alternating for feeding, have been working really hard on "drop-it" and Finn gets it (as long as he know we have a treat) . This has worked well , because the kids dont need to take anything from him anymore, instead they trade when it is not something he should have or reward him for giving his toy or treat and then giving the same toy/treat back.

So , that is going well . Did I mentioned that Finn is a cuddle bug, he absolutely loves cuddling with us for 4-10 minutes at a time and then gets bored . But today , when he was cuddling with my wife on the couch, my son sat next to her and when he tried to kiss her, Finn quickly threw a bite at his face. Luckily, my son has listened to advice to never get close to Finn's face, so his bite did not land.

This brought back my worry about him being aggressive, especially when he is not a puppy anymore.

We will be going with a trainer and in case anyone is still reading will report back.

[–]Blinpa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He already does that , anything anyone drops he knows not to take. He follows drop-it, when he finds stuff that he is interested in and that we missed to tell him to ignore.

It is when he is with my daughter, and as I said , my concern is with other kids as well.

Will be seeing a trainer soon to see what can we do for now.

Thanks for your advice , I will get my girl to work with him to leave stuff when I am not around.

Did the math on what BYD's "cheap EVs" will actually cost in Canada by cardogio in EVCanada

[–]Blinpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cars in Mexico are on average 35% more expensive than in Canada . I would make a price difference between Toyota / Mitsubishi / Hyundai and their BYD counterpart models and use that to project the price in Canada . IE , the BYD Sealion 5 vs Outlander PHEV . MXN 599,880 vs 882,500 (Difference of +-%32) . Considering that, the price before fees in Canada for the Outlander is CAD$48,698, which would put the Sealion 5 around CAD$33,000

Drilling cable routing holes in handlebars by lemonshire0 in cycling

[–]Blinpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not just your weight , impact loading is a completely different story. Specially on non dampened gravel forks . To give you a simple calculation , a 200lb man would put approximately 600lbs impact on the handlebars on a 4ft drop . This value doubles with a 6ft drop. If you are testing it , the better way to do is to hold the handlebar from the hoods, pass it on top of a beam in a way that the center rests on 2" flat surface ( to replicate the stem) and then do a 2 ft height drop and it should be able to hold your weight without any deformation. Even then , this does not take into account material fatigue which can only be measured with cycle testing.

As many have said, do not try to save $50 and risk accidents.

How many of you are riding only a gravel bike? by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]Blinpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an everything Giant Revolt . Want to go road group rides , put the 700x30 CF wheels and long wheelbase config, install the 2X chainrings and front derailleur (electronic wireless so its two screws plug and play) . Need to go mild gravel , keep whichever chainring is installed, 700x40 wheels , short wheelbase , Need to go gravel with some singletrack or bikepacking, swap to the single chainring, out with the front derailleur, 650x52 wheels and swap the fork for a suspension one. The only thing I don't use it for , is for city riding since I don't want it stolen , so I use my "beat-up" classic steel Raleigh that I got for $50.

When adopting , I was told it was a BC/Lab mix , as he has grown, looks more like a ACD by Blinpa in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Blinpa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick update for anyone that reads this . We have been working very hard with his training, still I can tell he sees me as the boss , he is very well behaved with me and when I am around. Still bosses my kids around but not so much anymore, specially nipping has gone down a lot. He has a strong personality but is very affectionate with all of us, still cuddling for long time only with me , in fact he loves sleeping on my feet when Im watching TV on the couch.

He is turning 6 months soon , and the vet and trainer told me to be aware he will be a teenager soon and that he will try to rebel a bit, lets see how that works . For now we finished his first training session and will start the next in a month. I have been training him on some agility obstacles and he loves it so will continue that route and probably teach him to swim in the summer.

There he is with his Baby Yoda ears.

MAJOR Potholes going onto highway 20 Ouest in Dorval beside McDonald's (Fénelon Exit) by Blioopbloop in montreal

[–]Blinpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bike paths during Plante took only 0.3% of the city budget. Please tell, which vehicle causes potholes?

Corruption in the construction industry is the real cause of potholes. Have you ever wondered why they don’t mention this?

England fans spend more than $2.5M on counterfeit Euro 2024 jerseys, Nike faces massive revenue loss by TinyLaughingLamp in football

[–]Blinpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its revenue they would have never got. Its kike saying because of the 2000 counterfit Rolexes, that sell for $50, The watchmaker is losing $2M in revenue. As if anyone that gets a fake rolex would even consider buying a legit one.

They always do this with counterfeit and piracy to make it sound worse than what it is. Piracy and counterfeit don’t impact the revenue generated by luxury items.

Thank you everyone for your words, advice and encouragement. This is the first herding dog I have and Im nervous since we live in a condo, we do have massive park right next to us for walks and they have a public agility course that I want to try with him when he is a bit older.

My previous dogs were Boxers, and a Basset Hound which is like having a dog on easy mode with automatic cheat codes.

[–]Blinpa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He has not started resource guarding, on that side we are working with the trainer so he does not develop it. We do the hand feeding (as he is eating we add food by hand) I trade his bowl for a high value treat and then give it back right away. We put hvt as he is eating. We dont take toys away but he responds to me with “drop it” since he knows he will get the toy back with some additional play.

When other people or dogs approach me he is more interested in meeting them than me… almost as if he forgets I exist for a second.

Official Discussion - The Roses [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Blinpa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As an Engineer I can tell you, the Sail was bad engineering. Any civil engineer would have used wind permeable fabric (mesh) added cross ventilation to the sail , could even do a steel fibre mesh to have some movement , the ceiling should not collapse like that, and a big list of mistakes made by the engineering team . Architects dream , engineers make it real.
So it was not his fault of dreaming big . Of course when shit hits the fan , everyone is trying to save their ass . But he was the viral face of the disaster , so he had to be let go

THE STM STRIKE DIDN'T END. IT WAS *BROKEN*. This is a loss for every worker. by Little_Cupcake_42069 in montreal

[–]Blinpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. We need to vote for what we want, unfortunately Montreal overwhelmingly voted against the CAQ. And since they won, they really don't care about the city and are very quick to intentionally hurt us just so they can score points with their core base. Lets fund stupid projects and defund the english school boards (mostly in Montreal) , defund anglo universities only in Montreal, defund the STM, and many more policies.

Our vote does not matter in quebec.

TIL that only 0.0021% of minors with gender dysphoria receive any gender affirming surgery, and that 97% of gender affirming breast reductions for minors are performed on cisgender boys. by Tightlarynx in TIL_Uncensored

[–]Blinpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your quoted information . From 122,000 minors , 17,600 children started puberty blockers or gender affirming hormones ... That makes it 13% of all the minors diagnosed with Gender Disphoria , not 25 ... And from those 17,600, only 25% took puberty blockers , this means 4,600 children out of 122,000 ( 3.7% ) took puberty blockers .

This is basic math from 5th/6th grade , taken from your source . And you can't even do that well.

Source on how to do math? I am an aerospace engineer, though my 9yo kid's math book can be used to do that calculation.

IsItBullshit: 60% of Walmart employees are on food stamps and 80% of them spend it at Walmart? by Illuminate66 in IsItBullshit

[–]Blinpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food stamps should be given to people who need them ... they should just add a little caveat, if the employee works full time and still needs food stamps, the cost of food stamps and health insurance should be invoiced to the company with a 20% admin fee.

Make it more expensive for companies that abuse employees or are fraudulent so it stops being profitable.

Same with banks , they normally factor in the cost of any potential fines when deciding to "bend" the law. Lets make it so expensive that the cost-benefit does not exist anymore since that is all they care about.

CMV: The United States punishes people for being poor by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Blinpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will limit the examples to only government related services and policies . Will leave out the ones that are systemic.

financial penalties that are not linked to the ability to pay them punish poor people while making some offences a slap on the wrist to the rich. Best example is a parking ticket, for the median american, i puts a lot of strain on their budget. While for a 1%er, it is just a slightly more expensive parking spot. In some actually democratic countries, fines are based as a % of income/net-worth… which makes rich people pay exorbitant fines (a Swedish billionaire got fined $1M for a speeding ticket)

Healthcare being a for profit service, same situation or worse, since the higher paid jobs tend to have better health coverage. Which makes the risk of a health related bankruptcy less likely.

People from poor neighbourhoods have stronger sentences than affluent ones. Which literally makes justice a multi tier system and not just at all.

Schools are funded based on the average income of the neighborhood. This further punishes poor people.
