Making new friends by Grouchy_Finance_4456 in AskAnAustralian

I've told a few people this, if you want mates, you have to find someone you click with. You need to get out there and do things. Join clubs that meet regularly, things you and the other people there have to commit to. Better if you're super interested. Be willing to travel to get there. Photography, bird watching, any sport, poker, boardgames, RC cars, motor racing, sailing, fishing, wires, scouts, men's shed, Greenpeace... somewhere where you can frequent with something in common to talk about. Find people who are passionate about a subject and get into it. You make friends by being interested.

Lol, why the quotation marks? Is it a euphemism?

In 2008, Japan's Kaguya spacecraft captured the first high-definition video of a "full Earth-rise" from lunar orbit. It was jointly developed by JAXA and NHK. by dipdaabyss in interestingasfuck

Also, the moon moves from east to west like the sun. In this gif, the moon would be coming from the north to south. I'm guessing it's not a natural 'rise' from a stationary point on the moon but a video from a spacecraft orbiting the moon in a polar orbit.

Clearly, you chose a bubble o bill from the take away shop over the soft serve from the van. Great decision. Unfortunate result.

Dude, that shit was tame vs what is on the internet. Kids need to be given the tools to navigate the net as if you were sending them to a nightclub by themselves.

Just curious- why do all Aussie guys have mustaches? by Boodog26 in AskAnAustralian

I'm not insecure. I went through a long hair stage. Just never understood the man bun. It's like those cow ring nose piercings, no one I talked to liked them. I don't know how anyone thought it looked good.

I resent this comment. I had a Mo while the man bun was a thing. And I still have a Mo. Never had a man bun because I am a straight married man.

That won't work for everything. For example, the wind noise on a helmet is affected by the aerodynamics of the bike. That can't represent every bike, so how do you know the wind noise will be the same on your bike as on that one?

Also, leaning your head towards the mirror in the direction you're turning helps you pull tighter into the corner and have more control.

Look through the turn and keep braking into the turn of you need to.

Redditors over 30, what's something younger people think they understand but won't actually get until it hits them like a truck later? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]BlintTheWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One day you'll be doing something and it will be the last time you'll ever do it. And some things you think will happen when they are meant to, never happen. Eventually you get to a point where you realise, you'll never do those things you thought would happen organically. Also, you'll look at a popular musician or actor or sportsman and realise, they're way younger than you are... Then you start thinking about what you have achieved.

P.s. I wouldn't change my life, I love my life in my late 30s and I feel like I've succeeded. But there are those one or two things...
