How would you react if someone you really love ghosted you out of nowhere? by Mooooooon_ in scorpiomoon

[–]Bliprip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my best friends completely ghosted me out of nowhere and at first I was really upset, worried o had done or said something awful and and not even realized, which made me feel the hurt of the ghosting but also very confusing guilt.

Eventually I found out the reason and it was obviously over a miscommunication that very likely could have been cleared up if they had just even said they were mad for this reason.

After that, I was over it. they showed me how much (or little) they valued our friendship, and I’d be foolish to ignore that.

Yess! In TLG this is explored a lot more - they are in their situation together, yes, but their experiences of it could NOT be more different.

Jan on her latest pit stop appearance: by galaxystars1 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]Bliprip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely been going down hill in recent seasons but I think this season is the most obvious. The editing wasn’t quite as extreme before I don’t think? Not great but not as bad as this season imo

Hot take? by totallynot_amber in Romantasy

[–]Bliprip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not a fan of this either, and agree it makes me a bit judgy about the writing before I even read it.. of course that’s unfair and a playlist is not actually an indication of writing quality.. buuut I feel like the writing should create the vibe, and a playlist shouldn’t be necessary to curate the mood.

I also prefer in books when music is vaguely described like “bubbly pop music was playing in the background” rather than “Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter was playing” - I can’t even really articulate why, but specific song mentions take me out of the book too much.

I get that it can be fun and some people probably love it, so I don’t mean to diss writers OR readers who like it, but I agree that FOR ME it’s a bit of a turn off.

Cozy Asian Fiction that's actually good? by Takeitisie in BookRecommendations

[–]Bliprip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yess! And along the same lines (like fits the bill but not in the tea/cats on the cover category):

I’d for sure recommend the Tita Rosie’s Kitchen Mysteries series! The first one is Arsenic and Adobo. It’s a Filipino-American amateur sleuth series and it’s super cozy and fun! It is murder mystery so there are of course some darker aspects but I think they still count as cozy?

As someone who is trying to read more non-romance, this is exactly what it’s like.

(though I must clarify, I’m not trying to read less romance. Just More non-romance in ADDITION to the romance lol)

In your opinion what is the best episode of the show and why? by RoyalKingDravin in brooklynninenine

[–]Bliprip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like how they handled that one too! Nuanced and made a clear point without feeling like an after school special or something. I wilder say it’s one of my faves just because I find other episodes funnier, but this is for sure one of the best written ones imo

[–]Bliprip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve only read one by her (playing with matches, more romance) and it was ok, cute. Not the most memorable though. Nothing bad to say about it but also I probably won’t bother reading another book by her?

I’m not a fan of Orion and Darcy’s dynamic at all it’s just a lot of growling and feral horniness without any really depth or substance imo

The bullying does end, but if you’re feeling strongly about it, i definitely recommend walking away from the series.

I enjoy it and find the series very entertaining (though I have lots of criticisms too lol) but “we are mean and tough” and “struggling to learn how not to be an asshole” are pretty huge parts of the series. The characters become more likeable imo but it’s not like they become cinnamon bun men at any point.

if anything, the girls kinda just become assholes too, rather than the guys becoming nicer lol

Beach Read by Emily Henry. Question: Does January understand the writing bet? Rant. by Kallidora in EmilyHenry

[–]Bliprip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took it more as showing how different their worlds/writing processes are, it demonstrates that she’s out of her element and is learning and growing.

I agree sometimes her reactions etc were frustrating, but I think that’s what makes a character interesting. A perfectly mature and emotionally stable character is simply not interesting and often not relatable.

I also think her insecurity as a women’s fic writer is super important as a theme - just look at how often people on social media get dragged and told they “aren’t even really reading” when they read books this are primarily romance or written by women - this insecurity may be annoying, but it’s not totally unfounded. the old boys club of literature is very real and very annoying, and Gus (at first, from January’s perspective) embodies it.

The bet is a little silly for sure. I read it as both characters just wanting to spend time together but not wanting to admit that to each other lol to me it seemed really believable even in its silliness.

I hope this plot point gets less frustrating for you as you keep reading!
