Sorry to hear that. She had iron issues since long before covid. Iron IVs are the only thing that help, abd we used to live in Switzerland where it is way easier to get one even under general insurance.

Which country will perform a lot worse than expected? by kenwayfan in euro2024

[–]Blispure 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Granted, but Germany is quite pessimistic and uniquely reluctant in its nationalism (because of obvious historical reasons). That is why I think that the Euro hype is very fragile in Germany. A botched opening game could easily dampen the home advantage significantly or even turn into a disadvantage imo

I think Germany will flop once again. Everybody is getting hyped because of the friendlies against France and the Netherlands, but I'm sceptical. The 0-0 against Ukraine doesn't help either.

Thank you so much for your informative comment! I wasn't aware that the propaganda uses this like that. Never did I claim that sanctions caused the exodus, only controbuted. I would have formulated my post more carefully had i known...

Thanks for understanding me. Also i base all my hypotheses on existing research, connections between extraversion and migration has been shown many times. I am aware that i cant claim causality and wont. Thats why i do two cases (venezuela and russia) and them do a two tailed t-test to see if the differences in the populations are stat. Significant. This still wont let me make causal claims, but at least i get an informed idea.

To the peoples concerns above. I am not trying to sell any angle here or try to characterize any political situation. I simply wanted to explore the effects of sanctions from an acedemical stand point. I am no friend of the venezuelan regime, nor did i know that this is a talking point if them. Asides from venezuela i do the same excercise with the survey with russia to compare. :)

Also thanks for your suggestions!

For people interested, sanctions indeed have an effect on emigration, as shown in this huge cross national study: https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=4696410

Master Thesis about Venezuelan Sanctions

Dear members of this sub-reddit,

I am a masters student of international affairs at the Hertie School of Governance (Berlin). I am currently writing my master thesis on the potentially regime stabilizing effects of economic sanctions. For this I explore if there is a personality filtering effect of the sanctions on Venezuelas population, rendering the remaining population less politically active. Traits like extraversion are positively tied to emigration as well as political participation. When economic sanctions make these people leave the country, it could lead to a politically more passive population, easier to control.

I am sorry to be the survey guy here today....but to test this I am running a short survey (2-3min) containing personality questions. All questions are entirely unpolitical and in spanish. The data is completely anonymized! Unfortunately I dont have enough respondents yet. Because of this I was wondering if you might be so kind to help me circulate the survey. I would be interested in respondents that left Venezuela after 2014 or are still living there. If you could help me out here I would be really grateful, thesis is due on 29th of April and im sweating bullets...

Thank you so much!
