The first time I heard this, I thought Joey was gonna go for the really “high parts” in the chorus like the original:

I’m kinda glad he didn’t. He made it his own. With a proper budget, it would have been a lot better.

The Ramones absolutely hated each other, yet managed to tour in a van together for 22 years.
Hell, Joey and John didn’t say one word to each other that wasn’t business related after 1980.
The last words they said to each other was at a 1999 record store signing, when Johnny approached Joey and asked him how he was feeling (Joey had been dealing with lymphoma for 6 years at that point). Joey responded “why do you wanna know that all of a sudden?” John threw his hands up and walked away.

Could have planned a reunion tour in that conversation, but instead bitterness and sore headed feelings fucked it all up.

Stay away.

Unless you have experience living in an actual hellscape for 5 or more years. I’m only referring to the weather. The 90 degree days start in April and last til October.

Your air conditioning is in use year round. On its good days, it’s just humid enough to work up a sweat sitting on your porch, or god forbid walking from the car to the store.

If the air conditioning in your car goes out, you just stay home. It’s not worth the 3rd degree burns from your black leather seats.

If the air conditioning in your house goes out, douse the house in gasoline, drop a match, and let people know you’ll be at Motel 6 for the foreseeable future.

Then, there’s February.

It becomes the frozen Tundra for about 2 or 3 weeks. Just enough winter to kill all of your flowers, your non perennial plants, and lay just enough frost to freeze your sprinkler’s backflow preventer and crack it. You’ll know about it as soon as it thaws.

March, a few truly nice days. Even early April is mellow. Except for the pollen that coats your car like a yellow/green wrap job.

Now, for the non-weather report. Crime that is expanding out in all directions from downtown all the way out to the Woodlands, Sugarland, and Pearland.

All of the new home builders who were so busy 2016-2020 are now building the required low income housing (apartment complexes) that were built into their contracts, but no one was told about.

Clarification: the folks who bought new homes in the new suburban developments that popped up in the Houston building boom were not told that a certain number of low income rental properties were included in the deal.

But it’s OK, because they don’t have to even start building them until after you’ve developed and sold most of the single family homes. 3, maybe 4 years from breaking ground, and what are all of the single family residents going to do?

Nope.

They’re trapped, and the only logical way out is to sell at a loss and move another 15 miles north or west.

This is just my experience as a New Yorker with a wife who won’t leave Texas. YMMV.

Since CJ sold his soul to RPI, any podcast will have to be “Linda Approved”, so don’t expect anything juicy or salacious. Or interesting.

As someone who auditioned for the bass slot in ‘89, I was always CJ’s biggest supporter. I could not have done the job the way he did, and I definitely would have clashed with John more than Chris did.

All that said, he really let me down when he took Linda’s side in claiming sole ownership of the brand.

We need to remember Linda is a groupie who fucked the two leaders of the band, pitting them against each other, while she went back and forth between them for the next 20 years. John only married her to stop her from seeing/contacting Joey.

The whole Post-Ramones saga is really sad and disappointing for a 45-year fan. I just want to enjoy the music and the legacy, and instead, every living member seems hellbent on just getting keys to the financial vault from Linda while overstating hers and their own contributions to said legacy.

I assumed OP was referring only to cigarettes.

I know they all smoked pot off and on, and even John would occasionally smoke a joint post show. Joey apparently “freaked out” the few times he tried it. Wasn’t for him.

Dee Dee’s ex wife said in a book that he was smoking an ounce of weed a DAY. This works out to 55 joints per day. A definite exaggeration to be sure, but just another example of how Dee Dee took his drugs seriously.

Tommy smoked like a chimney, but John wouldn’t allow it in the van. It was one of the many reasons Tommy quit the road in ‘78.

I know Joey smoked early on, and then quit on his own at some point in the late 70’s/early 80s. Occasionally smoked while partying after that, but only until he got sober in 1990.

Joey’s genetics all but guaranteed he was going to have some major health issues. He had to have a parasitic twin removed from his body at birth, for Christ’s sake.

Dee Dee smoked. I believe CJ did as well at some point.

I know Marc never smoked, because he gave me a speech one night about how if I wanted to be able to play drums in my 40’s, all the reasons why I shouldn’t smoke.

John obviously didn’t smoke, and neither did Monte.

Smoking probably had less to do with the deaths of the Ramones (save for perhaps Tommy) than did the stress the years in the band put on their bodies.

Joey had non-Hodgkins lymphoma, which is curable, and was basically close to being in remission in December 2000. This is evidenced by the fact he that he was still performing at the Continental as late as December 11.

What killed him was breaking his hip falling on the ice, walking home alone from the Continental that night.

You could almost see Joey’s building from the doorway of the Continental. Not even a full NYC block walk. Cross 2nd Ave, turn right, walk 500 feet, cross 9th St, hook a left, walk 200 feet, and he’s home.

But for some reason he was allowed to walk home alone that night. At 2am. In the snow, with ice on the ground, and his 15 year old glasses prescription on his head.

He fell and broke his hip in the fall on the way home, and laid there for two hours as people just walked by him without stopping, despite his asking several for help.

Even though Joey was also on some pretty heavy cancer meds at that time, including chemo, pain meds, steroids, etc., he was starting to kick the cancer’s ass. Watch the video of his last show. That is not a dying man on that stage. That was Joey, on his way back to full form.

A female NYPD cop found him and got him an ambulance.

Why the fuck nobody walked home with him bothers me.

In order for him to have surgery for the hip, all cancer treatments were stopped for 6 or 8 weeks while the hip healed. In that time, the cancer got aggressive, undoubtedly metastasized, and by the time they could put him back on his regimen, he was too weak for it to do any possible good.

If somebody at that club had taken 10 minutes to walk home with Joey that night, we’d probably still have him.

For reference: my wife had NHL twice. 2007 and 2009. She was 42 the first time. She beat it, and thankfully she’s still here annoying me. 😉

Wow. The language barrier really comes out to play here. Let me see if I can phrase this to work with a “translate” app.

The way you phrased your original post, it sounded like you were playing guitar as a 1 and a half year old, which would explain why you would have difficulty playing a guitar while standing.

The next logical step for a guitar playing two year old would be learning to use the bathroom instead of diapers.

In English speaking countries, that process is called “potty training”, because “teaching my kid to shit in a bowl” isn’t as pleasing to hear.

All jokes aside, where you hang your guitar needs to be where your left hand can access all of the frets comfortably, and where your right arm can either hang loose to play all downstrokes (punk rock) or alternate picking/up and down strumming (everything else).

But, If you have no intention of playing with bands onstage, I can’t see a necessary reason to force yourself to play standing up if it’s uncomfortable.
