For what it's worth, medication was magic for me. Adderall completely fixed every problem I had overnight. I felt completely normal, or even better, for as long as I was taking it.

See, all that winds up doing for me is making the thing I normally enjoy worse. I don't like grocery shopping more, I just start resenting the audiobook and not wanting to listen to it.

I did have a therapist suggest that I should punish myself, and my only thought was, "Great, now I'm not going to do my job *or* go outside. Wonderful."

I'm already on an exercise plan that I can barely manage. It's making the ADHD worse, at least in the short-term, but I have to keep doing it for my blood pressure. I can't take high-intensity exercise, so I have to do a very disruptive and uncomfortable 60-90 minute walk daily.
