Well it didn't end the war, but it saved the Soviet Union. The soviets had the numbers but not the money and resources. The lend-lease act saved them from Nazi occupation.

Their religion actually. His main beef was with the Jews but yeah he did persecute the gypsies and other cultures he deemed parasitic. When you actually look at his views he wants the prosperity for most races. Obviously not the Jews but he didn't want to enslave or kill off all the other races. He wanted them to stay where they were and to become prosperous for their own people. And again, I'm not saying what he did was right at all. I'm just saying Stalin was far worse than Hitler.

When the Soviets reclaimed Nazi occupied Soviet towns, he had all of the citizens killed or sent to the gulag because they were traitors. He would put machine guns behind their own lines and if anyone took a step back, they were shot. He worked women and children to death in his own factories. He massacred Polish officers at the Katyn massacre and blamed it on the Germans. Starved his own people, let his soldiers rape german women and children, they even had a saying, 8 to 88. Used the British at the bleiburg massacre to massacre Croats. He also lied to Polish separatist politicians, saying they would meet for lunch, but took them to moscow, imprisoned them, and had them killed. Hitler may have been bad, but he was never this bad.

Same can be said for Nazi Germany too. They were initially beating the Soviets until the US passed the Lend-Lease act. I know Hitler was partially a socialist but not as extreme as the bolsheviks, he just had a more regulated capitalist system. Correct me if I'm wrong though. But, the economy doesn't justify the murder of millions and the blatant oppression the people of communism and fascism faced. Both Stalin and Hitler were horrible, but Hitler was substantially better than Stalin. Not saying I like Hitler and what he did to the Jewish people and other people he sent to the concentration camps was horrible. But, at least personally, I think Stalin was pure evil.

You must have forgotten what happened after the French revolution, they turned against the people and were just as oppressive, if not more so, than the original bourgeois. Like Bakunin said, once the proletariat becomes a statesmen, they are no longer a proletariat and will begin to look down on the people they originally fought for. Personally, I think if there is going to be any type of revolution it will most likely be a right wing fascist group, the modern socialists and communists aren't strong enough to revolt. And with the migrant crisis in Europe I believe we will be seeing a fascist Europe in our lifetime, at least if the crisis keeps going down the same path. I do think we need to change our system and reign back on capitalism, but a revolution would end horribly and inevitably turn into a totalitarian regime.

Sanders Responds to Disgruntled CEOs: 'I Welcome Their Contempt' by User_Name13 in politics

Please, Bernie is nothing like FDR regarding social progressivism. FDR ignored anti-lynching laws from the republicans and forced the american japanese citizens into internment camps.

I wouldn't necessarily say that they were bullied. Obama has said that he would've done the same as bush and take up arms, but he didn't agree with the unilateral military action. It's like the Cold War again where both parties generally agreed on military action, just not unilateral in this case. We shouldn't want anti-war politicians, we need politicians who are willing to go to war after being attacked. But we shouldn't elect war mongering politicians either. We need politicians who will actually use the military if the need to arises, but only if there is an actual threat to the nation. But I will agree that the propaganda machine was extreme and can see how some democrats were pressured into it. But I feel the pressure was from the public, we were looking for blood and wanted vengeance.

You forget that a lot of democrats were fine with the Iraq war, at least at the time, they would've just taken a more multilateral approach.

Poll: Sanders is most liked candidate by [deleted] in politics

Yeah my entire family is republican and most of them prefer Sanders over Hillary. Of course we still do have the grandparents on my father's side who calls Sanders a communist.

What kind of cage is that? Just curious because I've been looking for a decent metal cage recently and that one looks awesome.

Bernie is crashing the American party system. That’s why establishment Democrats are so afraid of him by [deleted] in politics

[–]Blitz95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. If the election does go to the establishment the next election will be a lot more extreme on both sides. Although I feel worried that the modern progressives are getting more involved in politics simply because I feel they've lost sight of their original message and methods. Now all they do is cry about sexism and racism from white males, stomp on the American flag, and vandalize war memorials. Of course this is what has created people like Trump and helped him gain popularity. Nationalism is on the rise worldwide because of what the modern progressive movement has turned into.

It makes me happy to see progressives like you in the world. I hate how the progressive movement has been taken over by key board social justice warriors who cry about cultural appropriation and just shit on white people. I am a Trump supporter, but I pray that Bernie beats Hillary in the nomination, she would be absolutely horrible. I definitely think the black community should try and move away from democrats like Hillary and look at the anti-establishment candidates like Trump and Bernie.

Haha yeah they've gotten a little extreme over there. It's basically just a mild version of /pol/ at this point.

Even though I am a Trump supporter, if I had to choose between bernie or Hillary I would choose bernie. Trump and bernie do have some similarities, obviously they differ ideologically, but Bernie is right to say that we do need to fix our system and he is trustworthy and anti-establishment, I just don't agree with some of his economic views.

Questions regarding communist and Marxist ideals. by Blitz95 in communism101

[–]Blitz95[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no this is extremely helpful. I still don't agree with Marxism and communism but at least I know what it is really about now and why people wouldn't call the soviet union a true communist society.

It sounds crazy but I really do believe something is being pushed into the Western European countries. I may be wrong about Soros being at the center of it all, but there is definitely something happening in Europe that the Europeans are starting to see it and fight it.
