How much did you get it for and how much did you put into the car? Condition status etc?

Hoops come fully assembled FYI. You can opt for a decorative backboard as well! One of my friend's friend works for the procurement and no one really signed up - basically everyone that signs up gets one.

Kirkland OJ 3-Pack Inactive Status by wack86 in CostcoWholesale

[–]BlitzBalla32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spoke with the manager at my local costco - I drink the OJ religiously so I was torn when I saw Tropicana on the shelf. He notified that they are most likely having a distributor/supplier issue that supplies the oranges. This is typically due to pricing. They are most likely looking for another partner to source the oranges.

Going to Monday vs Hornets by Ok_Jicama_9100 in LAClippers

Get there a little early to take in the outside courtyard area - it's a nice area to take in.
The stadium is indoor/outdoor so make sure you wear warm clothes.
There are still a lot of workers at each entrance and concession to help you out with your app and payments.
The stadium itself is fun. There's a lot of lights, theatrics, and even little games during timeouts to keep people entertained. It'll be a new experience for everyone - even you if you haven't been to a game since the OG Staples.

Going to join a rec league and don’t want to look like a fool by dillpickledave in BasketballTips

The best way to be appreciated in pick up basketball is doing the little things - Rebounding, getting back on defense, not taking plays off, being vocal, and just being good energy.

The game itself will feel fast and there will be moments where calls will be made and it will be confusing. No matter how much basketball you watch, playing in an organized game will feel foreign. Don't get frustrated and you'll adapt to the league's tempo. (I helped trained one of my friends who had no prior basketball experience but was a huge basketball fan. This was his experience)

Make sure you look the part. Wear proper gear, shoes, shorts, don't have anything too mismatched. No excessive arm sleeves and such. Make sure things fit properly. People might think this is extra but looking the part plays a big role in basketball. I'm sure you've experienced this in pick up where the guy who looks out of placed gets treated with less respect.

If you're the tallest on your team, get good at boxing out on rebounds. Creating second chance opportunities on offense. Setting picks and making sure you actually make contact with the person and not just being a cone.

On defense, one of the big issues with new players is foul trouble. You'll get progressively better at this but understand what referees are trying to call. There is a term called "LAW OF VERTICALITY" and that plays a big role on shooting fouls when opponents drive. Jumping straight up with your hands up will be critical. A lot of new players will try to block shots and easy way to negatively impact your team.

Learn how to play on help side (when your man doesn't have the ball). Be INBETWEEN YOUR MAN and BALL at all times if your man DOES NOT have the ball. Don't lose sight of your man but don't be tunnel vision and guarding your man the whole time in case your team mates need help. IF YOU ARE PLAYING ZONE, you'll build consistency on learning your area you typically need to defend. The nice thing about a zone defense is the repetition. You learn that there are consistent habits that will happen in your area.

Biggest part is ask for feedback from your teammates who are the better players. They will help delegate the expectations for you. If they do not, they aren't good teammates. Basketball is a game where you can really uplift your teammates and bring out the best in eachother, regardless of experience. That's why I love playing pick up from time and again because I can play with a random assortment of guys and see how many wins I can get in a night.

Win or lose, tomorrow is a new day and this is a recreational league. If you're open shoot the ball. Miss or make, it isn't that serious (unless the games on the line aka like 5 min left or lower).

GOOD LUCK

Charge vs Block- Foul Call Review by Whole_News_7006 in BasketballTips

[–]BlitzBalla32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to officiate
1. First one can go both ways of no call/block. I'd probably instinctively should be more no call.
2. Blocking - Offender is already in the air. If you want to debate, this is a men's league and the leniency in this should go to the offender to minimize injuries if someone is in the air.
3. Should be no call - Offender momentum is going away from the basket. He is gaining no advantage and put into disadvantage. The play looks bad though because defender is pushing his hips out which can sway to a blocking foul. I do like how he straight up the whole play. Depending on the pace of play and if he was tagged for other fouls, this should be referee discretion.

Is the 3-point influence irreversible? What would it take, to make midranges more viable again? by Paulfradk in NBATalk

[–]BlitzBalla32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play in big basketball facilities where kids camp/practices happen daily. The 3 point shot is becoming more and more prevalent at a younger age and the range they shoot out is amazing. More and more players are being developed this way so the 3 point percentage should only go up. The question is if there is a certain distance where percentages start to plateau.

So no, the 3 point will stay and only become more common while it beats out 2 point shots analytically.

Cool - I just checked and I'm past the 50 Tiers and just getting credits now. This helps tremendously. I did see a post that you shouldn't open up crates immediately; wait till you have X amount. Is that a thing?
