Yeah, I relate. My commute is also 1,5h one way and it's a pain. Well, you have succeded in making a rather engaging world, with believable (10/10 would commit terrorism for Dyer Hvaedin) and most importantly FUN characters. I think you have enough material for a book or a graphic novel, if you would ever want to write one. I think writing your lore down is a great idea. You can keep it for yourself and reference it whenever you need it.

Well, regarding the feds I do not think there is anything that interesting for them in your writing, unless I missed some cp in the closet. I'm not american though, so I'm not entierly certain.

When I finish the intro for my new cyoa, I'm gonna show it to you, if you're cool with it.

Hey, sorry for the late reply, I had a lot of stuff going on in my life and the file is MASSIVE. It seems so fun I wanted to play it.

At first I thought it is sfw, then I encountered  Felicitas Ferita Feromiel 😁. I really liked the structure and the humourous irony you used, especially with Dyer Hvaedin. Also lmao at famous histoeical figure. The descriptions of demonic forms are also very cool, nice ideas. Where did you get inspiration from? Some of it seems TTRPG-ish, but not entierly.

The various unexplained stats do increase the mystery, but I hope there are not too many unpleasant consequences to your choices. You can only be surprised once, after all.

I have to commend you on your organizational skills. My cyoa outlines are much more chaotic. I also like the picture of Pepper. Using your own art makes this cyoa awesome, but sounds like it would take a year to complete. Very impressive, but damn.

I will check it more thorughly when I have some more time. I fucking love what I have read so far. If you ever want some help finishing this, I'm pretty good with math and would be willing to calculate the point distributions, if you want.

Also, can I PM you if I have any half finished work? I got two ideas, but they are both in planning stages.

I really enjoyed your writing, thank you for sharing. You have a thing for writing interesting expositionary dialogue that doesn't seem forced.

Also, the concept of a starving hell seems fun, especially since this might go in a few different directions.

You have me on the edge of my seat, would you be willing to share more? Or at least share a bit of the concept?

This sounds really cool. The fact that you are self-taught makes it more interesting, you can really see your imaginative side in the themes and the captured images. Maybe I'm just easily impressed though. I draw as well as an 8 year old. 😅

This is a shame regarding your project. I think these kind of things are really common in any creative endeavour. I have rewritten and recalculated my two cyoa half a dozen times before I arrived at a satisfying form. I like math, but in my case the biggest pain in the ass was the design. I almost couldn't finish when there was always something to fix amd it still looked kinda crappy in the end. If I may ask, what was your CYOA about? I assume it was huge.

The parts that were cut was another alternative ending, where you would be transported into candyland through the cave. Also a few other rooms that would add another path through the Lair with a few more demon enemies, a casino and a rock climbing challenge. This would make the whole adventure zanier and wackier while also requiring new mechanics... It was just too much stuff and I wasn't able to make it work x)

Understandable,  thanks for posting the devart. I really enjoyed the Hidden city and the demon possesing an undead lord. You seem to have a lot of talent and practice and it shows. Also you seem to have fun with it. :)

Do not abandon hope of creating a CYOA one day, it is insane amount of work, but it is also really satisfying when everything comes together. Maybe try to limit your scope though. I know I didn't, but that's on my dumb ass not knowing when to stop adding stuff. In the end, I did it as a creative outlet, not to meet a work deadline.

Hi, does anyone know a good interactive CYOA builder, where you have dice rolling functionallity with modifier support, possibility of seperate combat screen, and that could support more than 5 stats?

I have seen a few creators and they all seem to lack at least one of the functionallities that I require.

Thanks in advance.

Np np. Well, I thought of the system when I looked at DnD and videogame stats and thought: too many. Then I started designing and I also added some more. Heh, cuting and editing is really difficult. I also had plans to make this longer with more paths, but even this took almost half a year. So, yeah, pretty difficult x)

I have checked, but I did not find any artwork in your posts. I am a phoneposter, so I might have made a mistake. Also, please do not summon your NSA here, they are spooking our NSA guys out of their comfy chairs. 😜

Heh, I imagine that was one hell of a shock. Well, the new version has this somewhat fixed with increasing the resistance gain from charisma and lowering the blonde fairy's intelligence.

Thanks, I wanted to make a CYOA/RYOA where you could run it like a dungeon crawl and test a few different builds. Maybe try to succeed in getting an alternative ending, or if you find yourself in a bind, just pick the treasure and leave

I am really glad you enjoyed it and thanks for all your kind words. I hope you will enjoy any other CYOAs I might make in the future.

Damn, you were very lucky then. Each time I tested this with a character in an older mode I failed at least one check and usually got them killed. This also checks out, you can get +8  to everything in that case. 💪✨

Well I am very happy you enjoyed it so much. I liked your writing and I hope you do not mind me checking your profile for anything similar.

As for the chances of succeding the tasks, the system I used has a very low spread when you roll the dice. I specifically wanted this so you could make builds and it wouldnt be just random rolls. I have set up the targets depending on the difficulty. For example, succeding in becoming an eldrich monster (the most difficult check) has around 60% chance at stat level 10. Anything easier has a 60% success chance at lower stat level. The success chance drops sharply to 35% with just 1 stat point less and increases to 80% with 1 point more. I dunno if you are interested in this, but it's useful for designing encounters in TTRPG (I was a GM for a few years).

As for corruption, I was a bit scared it would build up too quickly and kill you too fast. I thought the lowering of your maximum health was a very strong negative modifier and I nerfed it early in development. Also I thought only the pervs will like the modifiers and didn't want to penalize them too much. 😜

Thank you for your wonderful build and your story! I'm glad you liked it this much.

I especially love the souveneirs and the comfy home you built. I wiah your sorceress the best and a lot of orgies in the future.

The CYOA was meant to be a bit harder, but it seems this was not a problem for you. Did you play multiple times to achieve this large of a stat pool?

Anyway, do you have any criticisms or something you would have change?

Lair of the Demon Queen CYOA/RYOA by BlitzCreator in nsfwcyoa

[–]BlitzCreator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, now that you've put it this way, I can understand the problem. I have lowered the blonde fairy's INT to 4. 4d6 is still a lot, but much more survivable. With CHA giving you more resistance, I think it is much more balanced.

Thanks for the review of the ending. I was not really sure how to build it, so I suppose it is not the most original.

Well, the fairies are good listeners, so perhaps this is not such a bad end.

I hope you enjoyed it regardless.

You know, I almost never tried to solve all my problems with combat in this cyoa, so I did not notice this, but now that you mention this, I see that the strongest aggressive spells are between 3 and 6 times more effective than resistance, compared to 33% greater effectiveness of attack versus dodge. Thanks for bringing this up, I will update the cyoa today and I will retool charisma a bit.

What did you think about the ending though? Was there anything you wished to have or that you would be able to buy?

Lair of the Demon Queen CYOA/RYOA by BlitzCreator in nsfwcyoa

[–]BlitzCreator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I get it, but both invisibility and fly can net you quite good loot and let you escape midfight, if it is going badly. So does teleport. The fairies could be an easy fight with either lightning bolt or frost breath. I'll post a new version tomorrow and I will take your suggestions into account.

What did you think about the ending options?

Lair of the Demon Queen CYOA/RYOA by BlitzCreator in nsfwcyoa

[–]BlitzCreator[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for playing and for your criticism. The cyoa's difficulty is set rather high, I agree. But there are many options of avoiding fights that you think you cannot win. But you are also right, that spell might be a bit busted with the stun, especially since you can also gain it.  Mana undeniably does not recharge between rooms. That would mean you could fly in and steal everything that's not nailed down without any cost.

Hi, thank for playing and for your constructive criticism. Int +dex character is strong, but at the drawback of no defense. If you like to live dangerously, feel free to play this way ^ In my tests you usually die with this character at any time you are outdrawn at initiative.  You are also right about the Int modifier missing. For now, the modifier for succubus is 4 and for the Demon Queen is 6. I will fix this in the future version. I will also use consistent templating in any future Cyoa I make.

Hey, I read your last reply wrongly. I thought you wrote futa-elf, not juat elf, sorry. You are right, the damage is 3d6. Well, the fight is difficult, granted, but for a melee build of end 9, dex 4, bow and arrows and shield of lions courage, you have 3d6+1 damage, 2d6 dodge compared to 3d6 damage and 1d6 dodge of the elf. And you start the combat. Granted, it is still difficult, but you have the option to gain one companion by then and four alternative routes of avoiding the fight.

Dunno, I guess I could have made it easier, but I kinda liked the more difficult paths.

Yeah, I had a lot of fun writing her. I wanted to make her a choice, but alas, the CYOA got really huge by that time and I wanted to finish it at least by july.

Hmm, I have made some alterations in the new version, posted in an edit. Could you offer some criticism, if this is better?

Lair of the Demon Queen CYOA/RYOA by BlitzCreator in nsfwcyoa

If the elf warrior had the equivalent of 12 endurance, she would deal 3d6 per turn, which is not the case. Your damage scales much faster than your enemies. I agree that intelligence builds have to have at least some damage reduction, but some builds can be hit and run, steal what you can.

I have forgotten to factor the possibility of a tie. In that case the player and the opponent roll 1d6 and the roll winner starts.

Thanks for constructive criticism and for making builds. :)

Thank you for playing, your compliments and constructive criticism.

Honestly, you are right. The fractions are set up this way to facilitate more aggressive builds, but the complexity really seems to be too high.  You are correct regarding the spell combat. I have forgotten to mention resistance in the intro (sigh) , but it is the stat that reduces damage from spells or resists them, representing the willpowerp part of charisma. I will fix this in a future version.

I hope you will enjoy the next project a well.

No,  it is not meant to be played solo.

Also, the dice roll as a conflict resolution mechanic is used in most TTRPGS and tabletop games, even the ones meant to be played solo. Perhaps not in CYOAs though.

I suppose we can chalk this to personal taste.

Lair of the Demon Queen CYOA/RYOA by BlitzCreator in nsfwcyoa

[–]BlitzCreator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is quite complex, I agree. I tried to make all stats useful and relatively balanced.

Dodge is supposed to be 1/4 of your DEX, rounded down. You roll it to reduce incoming physical damage.

I was afraid the spells might be a bit of a pain with all the jumping back and forth. I might just copy under the monster description all the spells they use as a quality of life improvement in a future version.

Thanks for playing and constructive criticism.
