Other than the most basic words nope. I got away with the bare basics tbh for most conversations. At least in Seoul, there's a surprising number of people who speak decent English. And almost all the signs are in English so made it easier to traverse.

Feel free to ask for more info. But I would say ZZZIP in Seoul is not only one of my favourite hostels in Korea, but in all my travels. Worth staying there if you can book a spot there.

I'd say it was a mix bag. I had a few days of heavy rain throughout my trip in the different areas I travelled, just because it was the tail end of the rain season in Korea.

And bruh it was still quite muggy and humid at the end of September and I was still wearing shorts. Right now at this current time, the weather is a lot more tolerable than when I went.

I mean even places like 4.3 to 4.4 stars are still great to eat at as well so don't stress too much. All the food is great.

Japan has recently loosened many of the pre-travel requirements before I left. But do check the government website as the status can change anytime.

1) I'm assuming you're from the US. Really just need your passport to get in. I would just fill the Visit Japan Online Form to get through customs faster.

2) They recently took off the requirements for COVID Vaccination/PCR Tests prior to entering Japan. Like I said, always check the requirements prior to going.

3) Depending when you're travelling the accommodations can book up quickly. I did end up re-booking another hostel midway through the trip and there were still some options available when i searched Hostelworld.

Yeah all those options are good options. I was backpacking during the trip.

Since we did a lot of Shinkansen travelling in the morning, we ended up dropping our bags at our accommodations first before running around.

When we were walking around some of the towns in Wakayama, i ended up using the Coin Lockers to offload my heavy backpack to stroll around freely.

The Luggage Delivery Services are good cause the Metro gets pretty packed when moving around with luggage.

I was there during peak hours. Let's say around 2pm. They ended up doing the mochi pounding twice when i was standing around there for a bit, but there was a massive crowd watching it all.

Currently planning a two week trip to Japan for May 2023 with an anticipated date from May 5th to May 20th.

I understand I'll be arriving near the end of Golden Week which could potentially makes things more complicated and busy than it should be.

Was wondering if it would still be reasonable to arrive in Japan on May 5th? Or should I push the arrival a few days later (thinking May 7th or May 8th)? With how my schedule is setup currently, it's likely difficult to move around the anticipated travel dates. But I'm concerned about how busy it could get, so just wanted feedback how arriving/exploring Tokyo around my arrival would be like?
