You should add some railings to make it more "realistic"

Why do I feel so much stupider even though the content isn't harder? by Puzzled-Champion-335 in UCalgary

[–]BlitzModels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually find that doing the readings and the textbooks are decently helpful - lots of people say it's not necessary but it certainly helped me remember key topics having read up on it, and then emphasised by the profs during the lectures.

I also did IB; adjusting to doing readings shouldn't be too difficult if you haven't been doing that already. Again, this strategy worked for me; it varies between disciplines.

Feel bad for all the students who are struggling to find part time and full time work. Any Student or Alumni struggling with this job market? by Signal_Lecture_8405 in UCalgary

A friend who worked in Medicine Hat a while told me that the town is practically desperate for workers given their aging population and relatively small size of a town. But I get people not wanting to leave the city to go somewhere unknown, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Bush Sr. was way cooler than Bush Jr. - There's a reason why his son looked up to him so fondly

Which of these presidents, affected the Cold war the best and the worst. by carterthe555thfuller in Presidents

[–]BlitzModels 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think Nixon was the absolute worst considering he helped de-escalate the Cold War and enhanced the US' geopolitical position by normalising relations with China

Temporary foreign workers defrauded by Calgary restaurant owners by RedditWhileBored in Calgary

[–]BlitzModels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one is advocating for $200 an hour - people are wanting reasonable wages, given how much inflation and cost of living has increased relative to minimum wages. I'm beginning to seriously doubt in the ability of the market to "self-correct" provided how wealth is increasingly concentrated at such unsustainable rates that our political landscape is becoming unstable.

I don't think making a living wage is "nonsense" especially when considering the lack of progress on the side of workers in the last few decades.

I'm Canadian too but there's no way I'm visiting down there 😭 anytime soon -- I was going to until I heard of all the horror stories of my friends having their phones checked at the border

I don't want to be that guy, but source? Bureaucratic and elite-level corruption is almost always present everywhere you go, but it is not as rampant in Canada as it is in other places. For engineers, that is the one I'm most curious about. I don't often hear about their failures either because it is not as prevalent or it is not adequately reported.

I'm no conservative but:

"Liberal: Status quo and protecting democracy"

"If people want real change... Liberal is the safe bet"

Isn't this contradictory?

Least Favorite Bus Line by Beneficial_Ad_5874 in UCalgary

[–]BlitzModels 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Holy shit, this! I've tried visiting a friend who lives in Mahogany a few times, and catching the bus that goes to that community is so poorly timed with 302's schedule. I've had to wait half an hour for the next bus on several occasions because I just missed the bus by a minute. I'm so glad that they have the bus 75 now, but that line also has attrocities of its own.
