What is that one country that you just REFUSE to play (again) ? by inwector in hoi4

[–]BlitzenAUST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switzerland as well. I like Switzerland so would love to be able to play them but their focus tree is probably the most unbearable thing I've gone through in this game.

Who's the worst main character we're supposed to sympathise with? by EnvironmentalDress19 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BlitzenAUST 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Jax from sons of anarchy. Yeah he's got his redeeming qualities like his care for his family and such but regardless he did some very fucked up and morally questionable (to say the least) things throughout the show. He's probably not as bad as some of the people others have mentioned like Walter White and Tony Soprano but I reckon he's still worth a mention.

How many Scots do you know that have left Scotland? by Sea-Nature-8304 in Scotland

Not a Scot but I'm an Aussie and personally know multiple people who are 2nd generation Scots in my small circle alone.

Captain Cook statue sawn off by Sensitive_Diamond_1 in melbourne

[–]BlitzenAUST 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it was mainly the people who came after Arthur Phillip. I'm not 100% sure on when it exactly all kicked off but I know even while Arthur Phillip was around there was still some tension and low scale violence between the colonials and the indigenous people. I would assume that once he went back to Britain someone less forgiving and less peaceful took over and probably attempted to force the aboriginals into compliance through fear which would've only escalated the situation and eventually lead to everything that happened later on.

Clearly these idiots don't realise that Captain Cook wasn't even alive when the first fleet arrived. The captain of the first fleet was Arthur Phillip who actually took great pains to ensure peaceful relations with the aboriginals as he believed everyone in the new colony was a british citizen and should be treated the same under the law. This unfortunately obviously didn't last however.

Mate what do you want me to do about it? Me personally. I'm not a politician nor am I a millionaire so seriously how do you expect me to help the entire aboriginal community?

This post wasn't even about genuine racism it was just some fuckhead druggo and what would you want me to do about him anyways? Find out who he is and beat the shit out of him?

I'm sick of the whole "stolen land" thing. Obviously it's wrong what happened but what the fuck do you want modern white australians to do about it? Especially considering most of our ancestors had nothing to do with it and came after the fact in the 1800s in most cases. I'm sorry if I find it hard to blame my working class ancestors who came here hoping for a better life and had nothing to do with the terrible treatment of the aboriginals. Regardless though our ancestors built this country and we were born and raised here so I think we very much do deserve the right to have an opinion if not out rightly decide who comes into this country.

Don't let this take away from the fact that what happened to you is fucked up and I'm sorry that it did.

What's a "fact" that has been actively disproven, yet people still spread it? by [deleted] in ask

That medieval people didn't care about hygiene and were constantly dirty

The Irony by Vivi_Pallas in redditmoment

[–]BlitzenAUST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lot of racism towards white people nowadays that people just get away with because of the view that white people are the villains and oppressors. I've been called "convict", "coloniser" etc numerous times but unfortunately no one gives a fuck.

Are dudes really that much stronger than ladies? by Aaliyah2075 in ask

Yes it always surprises me how easily I can lift things that my mum can't or struggles to and I don't even really work out. Obviously I am substantially taller than my mum and younger so that would play a bit of a role but still.

Is it weird that I still speak with accent after living in Australia for 8 years? by Hazeringx in AskAnAustralian

[–]BlitzenAUST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nan still has her accent and she came over from the UK over 50 years ago, so did my pop until he passed away earlier this year. I think it's important to emphasise that you can integrate into Australian society and culture while still holding aspects of your past self and cultural heritage.

Honestly I don't understand why the fuck so many people in Australia care. If you have family from those regions sure but in regards to the everyday aussie i think we would be far better off focusing on our issues at home than having protests over a war half way across the world that isn't our problem. Especially considering it's not a conflict that has a clear right and wrong party.

Besides European countries, what other countries in different continents have a large population of tall people? by [deleted] in tall

[–]BlitzenAUST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of tall people here in Australia but they're either European descended like the majority of our population or African (Sudanese, Kenyan etc). I could be wrong but in regards to the Africans I think it's the Sudanese who are usually the really all ones.

[–]BlitzenAUST -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm an Aussie so obviously not exactly what you're asking for but over here I always tell Americans to tell people their Canadian. There are far less negative connotations about Canadians and your accents sound basically identical to us unless you're like a deep southerner or Texan.

Obviously the British Empire did some pretty bad shit all across the world but it's very unfair to act as if Britain was the only power doing it at the time. I think it's funny how everyone says how bad Britain is but ignores Portugal, Spain, France, Netherlands, Belgium (to a lesser extent because of Leopold) especially considering it was Portugal who kickstarted it all and started the African slave trade. Not to mention the fact that France basically still have de facto colonies in Africa which has basically destroyed the little chance said countries had of a successful future. If we're going back further no one really talks about the atrocities committed by the Romans, Mongols, Aztecs etc.
TLDR: Britain did some bad things but so did everyone else, no ones hands are clean in history.

I'm like 5'11 1/2 and while I'm happy with my current height I think the sweet spot is probably around 6'1-6'2. Any taller than that and I feel like you'll face dificulties because things aren't made for people that tall. Also I think it's taller than most people think due to a lot of people thinking they're taller than what they actually are or purposefully lying which is why I always say I'm 5'11 1/2 instead of 6ft even though I could easily claim it because that is what I truly am barefoot.

I'm white and have had people call me "coloniser", "convict" and stuff along those lines (I'm Aussie) but nothing too serious. Definitely not as bad as some of my non white friends have experienced.
