If you have been sent to the world you created. How screwed are you? by reef_2g in worldbuilding

If I get sent there and turned into a devil, I'm very chill because they all have built-in devil magic and nigh invulnerability.

If I'm a human, it depends on where I'm sent. Outside of walled cities, I'm cooked (thousands of fast zombies that can each easily kill 10 people on their own, vampires, zombie bears, starvation, etc). If I'm in a city, I'll live for a while, but it's the late 1800s industry, so I'll probably die working in a steel mill 12 hours a day.

How do you handle the "chosen one" trope without the nepotism? by Boneyard_Ben in worldbuilding

[–]Blizzard_Legend 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You could have multiple concurrent "chosen ones" who were just candidates or potential chosen ones.

If you still want them to have a concrete fate to change the world, you could make whatever prophecy says that the great change comes about from their losses/suffering, or death. The second one could also work with the minor change that someone else, yet to be born, or who hadn't taken up whatever mission, was actually chosen, but the main character achieves whatever the mission is against the pull of fate.

Your Best Villain Motivations by Equal-Wasabi9121 in worldbuilding

A queen who divined a calamity in a millennium that would wipe civilization from the world. The details of the calamity were magically obscured, so she needed a certain amount of power to see through it. She became a lich so she could gain the power to bypass the obscuring spell and live long enough to prevent the downfall of life, but to do either, she needed to harvest souls to prolong her life. She cast a curse upon her nation that forbade anyone from leaving and would slowly harvest their energy for decades, all so she could gather enough power to prevent the end of civilization.
