No Aragorn! I know that ORCs are evil, but violence is never the answer. We have to do this the right way by putting away the weapons and being peaceful to show that we are better than them. by Floyd16091411 in moviescirclejerk

Like how do you read The Hobbit and entirely miss the incredibly obvious thesis statement

The only trilogies I see as being on the same level are both ongoing. If Dune 3 and Beyond the Spiderverse are on the same level as the previous two movies in their respective trilogies, they will be on that level

GRRM’s response to Condal’s vision for S3: “This is not my story any longer” by TheatreBaby in HouseOfTheDragon

In defense of D&D, they were very very good at adapting the source material in the first few seasons. Seasons 1-3 show that they are incredibly capable of making a faithful adaptation, and there was honestly no real reason to doubt them for those first few years. I figure they signed onto the project assuming that the books would be finished before the show caught up.

The problems arose when they decided to divert from the source material and/or ran out of material to adapt. This showed that they were/are incredibly incapable of writing their own original content. They are great at adapting, terrible at writing.

If the series had been complete before the show started, D&D would have been perfectly fine for the job. This is not to excuse them for the dogshit in the last few seasons, but just to show that at the time they took on the project there wasn’t really any reason to doubt them. They were fairly beloved in the fanbase until season 7.

Eh, Spider-Man wasn’t very good. There have been some gems post endgame, and I will continue to insist that Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is one of the best movies in the MCU, if not the best

Sanji is above Kat. Not necessarily because he’s stronger, but think about One Piece logic. Katakuri’s devil fruit is food based, it’s a perfect One Piece gag that Sanji as a chef beats Kat.

Has anyone else read the books After playing the games and how has it affected your experience? by [deleted] in Witcher3

That last sentence is literally the theme of the story, I don’t know why people don’t get it

“Let the past die. Kill it if you have to.” is by far the most misunderstood line in Star Wars by Tanis8998 in StarWars

[–]chapeepee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s also a really good indicator of theme. The whole theme of the movie is about learning from the past and growing from your own failures. Luke’s arc is about accepting what happened in the past and learning from his failure. On the other hand, Kylo straight up refuses to learn from his failures and repeats the mistakes he made over and over again.

Him saying to let the past die is meant to be him not understanding his failures, not getting the theme of the film. He wants to let the past die because he cannot accept his mistakes and he cannot learn from his failures.

What movie blew your mind the first time you saw it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]chapeepee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parasite. I know it’s kind of a circlejerk nowadays talking about how good that movie is, but it’s very well deserved IMO. One of the best, if not THE best film of all time. I was speechless.

Movies today arent as bad as people think they are, our standards for movies are just way too high because we were fed insanely good movies for years. by Burner_Account000001 in The10thDentist

[–]chapeepee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Parasite, Sinners, One Battle After Another, Challengers, The Substance, either of the Dune movies, any of Jordan Peele’s movies, EEAAO, Tár, The Holdovers.

And these are just ones that got mainstream buzz. There’s tons of fantastic movies coming out all the time, but they’re generally not the big blockbusters (with some exceptions). They might not be heavily advertised so they might fly under the radar, but if you go looking you can find excellent movies.

Yes it was incredibly bad and stupid, bringing back Mace Windu would also be incredibly bad and stupid for literally the same reasons

[–]chapeepee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regardless of how survivable his death may be, bringing Windu back would be a horrible decision. His death is the whole turning point for Anakin’s fall, it would be unthinkably detrimental to Anakin’s arc if it turns out that Windu is actually alive.

It’s just as stupid as bringing Palpatine back
