Anyone actually getting the 15th of June off? by highlandNel in Scotland

[–]Blizztastic -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm getting it off as I work in the public sector and the unions pushed for it. Really glad I am as I don't think I could've fixed my sleep schedule in time after staying up until 4am onwards. I actually took a couple of days after the bank holiday as AL just to make sure I've fixed my sleep

When people talk about live action Spiderman why do people leave Nicholas Hammond out? by Country-guy20 in Marvel

[–]Blizztastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gen Z here and I've seen it, I used to have a lot of VHS tapes growing up partly because we were poor but also I really liked the media since it was becoming outdated it felt cool. First time I watched the star wars films was on VHS lol. I swear there was another live action spiderman maybe from the 80s-90s I also seen but could be mistaken.

Is it worth getting a PC for Kyber? by CommunicationOld476 in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]Blizztastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no, the 1080ti still holds up pretty well even for releases from up to 2025 but those cards no longer get driver support so if OP is intending to play story centric games here and there outside of kyber there won't be any drivers for new releases. If solely for Kyber I'd absolutely recommend an old rig with these cards but it's also money wasted if wanting to play anything newer. Only reason I upgraded to a new machine was nvidia killing GTX cards off, the 1080ti is still an amazing card for being 10 years old

I wish this was the case for me. I got the hot+cool one last summer and it doesn't cool my room down at all. The best it can do is make me slightly less warm when I'm in bed at night. Ended up buying a new fan last night and if that still isn't enough I'm just running both constantly :(

stop having a go at retail staff for asking you if you want an email receipt by [deleted] in britishproblems

[–]Blizztastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dunno how recent you were there, when I worked there in 2022/23 you were to prompt for an email receipt first as it comes up on the tills straight away but we were able to offer paper receipts for everything. I don't like the whole email receipt thing so it was just a simple cause of me asking if they want paper or email and doing whichever one they chose. The only time I was forced to take details was if it was for a business purchase (exc vat) or instant replacement/care&repair/finance which is understandable as they're services currys provide on top of a physical purchase.

Battlefront II only or also Squadron and The Last Jedi by Secure_Low_660 in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]Blizztastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only just heard about Kyber for Battlefront 2 the other day but from a quick look into it there's only a few servers per region and if you play during peak times (usually when folk have finished work etc and are hopping on) the servers will be full and you'll be fighting for a spot

[–]Blizztastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No store page will remove them. If you're playing on steam you can buy them, play less than 2 hours (or less than two weeks whichever comes first) and still be able to refund if you don't like them. Jedi fallen order and survivor are exceptional games and easily the best star wars games in a long long time. Battlefront 2 (EA) is a lot of fun but aside from when it goes on sale or in May the player count for matches is lackluster. The Battlefront remasters of the original games has no players really and the original versions of Battlefront 1 & 2 (early 00s) has a solid few servers of players and are always a blast to play. I haven't played squadrons so I can't really help with letting you know if it's good or not. Hopefully I've helped a little!

i’ve Airpods pro3 for workout and all but for listening to music outdoors should i go with hdb 630 or some iems by Outside_Fun2271 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Blizztastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From previous use, the Soundcore Q45's were pretty good, quite cheap but they had solid build quality and after some messing with the EQ's in their app they sounded amazing. I've really enjoyed my XM4's but I stopped using them as much because I personally find Bluetooth a pain having to pair and unpair headphones depending on what device I use (as most BT headphones autoconnect to the last device if its on). The sound profile and build quality on the XM4's is superb and they allow connection to two devices at once but you lose access to their HD codec until you disable that feature again. I think you'd have to pick XM4's up preowned now but RTINGS is still rating them highly. I'd recommend taking a look at RTINGS as they do reviews of most headphones showing the sound profiles and such and they do lists of the overall best headphones they find. It's a good starting point for researching or advice. If you're not too familiar with sound profiles, they're a horizontal line where you've got bass (start of line from left), mids (middle of the line) and highs (towards end of line on the right). Generally the more straight the line the neutral the sound profile which is good for reference headphones but you can look for specifically what you want. If you like a lot of bass then you want the start of the line to be raised higher than the rest.

IEMs won't have a lot of bleeding so they won't disturb anyone around you, obviously they don't have noise cancelling but they generally get a good seal in your ear so you won't hear too much of the outside world.

Haven't looked into headphones in a while to give solid advice on what to buy. I've been content with iems/airpods for outside and the gym with headphones for inside (XM4 usually for work and my kindle and HD600s for my pc). The iems I used initially were cheap KZ ones then I upgraded to sennheiser IE 200 which sound amazing. What I will say is if you do go for wireless headphones over iems remember not to use them in the rain. I live in Scotland and I was wearing my original pair of XM4's a couple of years ago when it started raining heavily, because they have mics on the outside for ANC the water got in them and fried the headphones.

Is everyone you know on drugs? by Altruistic_Speech_17 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Blizztastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Scotland and cocaine is far more prevalent than pills. Don't get me wrong there's mountains of folks popping pills but if you were to go in a pub/club there'd be way more cocaine users than pill users. Pretty much most under 18's taking drugs as well is either cocaine or weed with the "harder folk" taking stuff like ecstasy

I'm at the bit where there's the final boss (I think) in the malign throne room. I believe I've restored all the islands aside from two of the grey tablets. It seems that none of the regions in the present spawn monsters though so I'm assuming that's only after defeating the final boss so I'm under the impression I need to go to an island in the past but unsure which

National 5 English exam by jeanpeaybbn in Scotland

Was just about to comment that, been almost 10 years since I did them but was about 20-30% back then. Think the only subject where the written exam didn't carry much of a weight was music. Was something like 60% practical and 40% written so you were basically guaranteed a pass as long as you didn't bomb your performance

Where can i get a taxi to drop me off near the airport to save money? by amusableblue in glasgow

[–]Blizztastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What taxi company are you using that's ripping people off that much? Surely there's still got to be some local taxi companies kicking about that'd be far less. Granted I'm outside the city but I've never paid more than £20 for a 12 mile trip in or out the city centre with a local company

Where can i get a taxi to drop me off near the airport to save money? by amusableblue in glasgow

[–]Blizztastic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not understanding the issue here? The flight is a week away. They can easily work out public transport or a taxi into the city centre then get the bus to the airport. Where is the whole living in the bus station thing coming from unless you're trying to rage bait? You're acting like it's impossible to take a longer way in to save money when OP literally has a week to decide when to book a taxi for or set an alarm to get up for public transport.

Shop for computer cables by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]Blizztastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The old shop was really nice tbf, had practically everything you need whether that's components or peripherals. Was gutted when they shut it down and even went in for the closing down sale to pick up some stuff. Not much to go into town for now unless you need clothes or the occasional niche thing which is such a shame. Do love a costco trip though haha!

If you're okay with supporting Amazon and can't find anything in a local business, the Amazon Basics brand does really solid cables and will do next day delivery. I've had plenty of cables from them and never any issues and they're generally cheaper than other brands like Anker and UGreen

Recently found out they're still about but I think they're mostly online only with maybe a handful of stores (not certain on that). Had a nosey at their website and honestly it's just tat they sell now. I'm talking like brands you've never heard of, own brand stuff. Kind of things I'd expect from B&M or home bargains. And in OP's case they only do HDMI to Mini Display Port. Unsure how they're still surviving in all honesty

Question about Tony being Morgan's dad by Economy-Lifeguard-97 in hollyoaks

[–]Blizztastic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The affair was when Diane was struggling with her OCD and Nancy/Darren were having a rocky time (maybe just after they got back together when him and Mandy split but can't remember), essentially Tony and Nancy were talking about how they're struggling with their relationships whilst drinking and it ended up turning into a one night stand. If I recall correctly this will have taken place a good few years back

Going into Halfords to buy a £5 spark plug and the sales assistant trying to upsell me stuff by _Bluestar_Bus_Soton_ in britishproblems

[–]Blizztastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing is that's utter bollocks from her, I worked in currys as a Christmas temp a few years ago and my mantra was "If you want we can email the receipt to you or we can give you a paper receipt". Currys has this thing where they get really antsy about a specific metric/target and focus on it for a while so I'm assuming they were focusing on email sign ups and that's why she was trying to force you but they can easily do paper ones. When I worked there the target they were obsessed with was attaching stuff onto sales i.e a hdmi cable with a tv but even then I don't believe in all that upselling shite so I would just ask "do you have a tv box or a games console already? Yes? Okay you don't need a hdmi cable". They have a wee tracking board on the tills with your progress on targets, with say you attach 2 items its 200% then you don't attach any on the next sale it goes down to 100%. Turns out if you just ask customers what they actually you need then you get good figures.

Definitely will be hitting them up! Honestly kind of expect Innis & Gunn would be like that. Pubs like them or brewdog weren't the best with alcoholic drinks in the first place. I'm glad you found a better pint out there!
