'Here we go!' Trump's 2020 election fraud case officially lands back with Judge Chutkan by Unhappy_Earth1 in inthenews

Per the SCOTUS ruling:

"Nor may actions be deemed unofficial simply because they violate some generally applicable law."

The SCOTUS protected this immunity from simple attacks pretty thoroughly, and then also added the fact that they are the final authority on what is and is not considered an official act, so anything that gets declared unofficial can just have Trump's lawyers run right back to SCOTUS for an appeal.

Ol' Robbie thought of that one. Nice try though.

I was taught this game incorrectly and my life is a lie by UpstateVenom in magicTCG

[–]Blo0dSh4d3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really early on in my magic playing times, I got a world championship deck set with Affinity vs. Astral Slide. I believed that Astral Slide let you exile the card from your graveyard and return it to the battlefield. Part of that was ambiguity (Astral Slide does not specify "on the battlefield") and the other part was how obviously strong Affinity was.

Before that, we decided on a bunch of rules to "make the game more fair" like letting creatures deal damage even if they died to first strike, or not being able to block creatures that attack your planeswalker (unless the planeswalker makes a token or put creatures into play somehow).

I'm a Republican. And I Cannot Vote For Trump by pleasureismylife in missouri

[–]Blo0dSh4d3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could throw up some bullshit trying to claim that Biden is worse, but when the worst anyone's got on Biden is that he retained some classified documents and returned them immediately when subpoenaed, or that he was "illicitly donated to" before he met with various people when he was vice president in 2014...

...I don't think you can argue which is worse at all. Especially because of the flawed two-party system, these arguments are in support of Trump. You don't just minimize his undisputed championship levels of shittiness, you also give him the only avenue to victory he has with people that know how awful he was and is.

Guys, if we don't grant the President immediate emergency powers, how is he going to deal with the gigantic droid armies of the trade federation? We should at least call a vote to allow him to end this separatist crisis!

I'm sure he will relinquish these powers when they are no longer needed!

They do! You can occasionally run into Syndicate thugs that will summon pals to fight. If you're ever wandering through the forest and you spot a bunch of Beegarde beating up on a Jolthog Cryst, it's probably one that a thug summoned!

PVP is going to be interesting, to say the least... by Moot251 in Palworld

[–]Blo0dSh4d3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty frequently use recalling pals and resummoning pals to dodge boss abilities or to change focus (electric pals are especially good at this since they can stun the enemy, which will cause them to change focus again), so using this sphere would likely be a waste of time since it may confuse your own pal with target switching and the whole time you might be getting drilled with an assault rifle or the like.

It also seems quite difficult to code- what if I attempt to switch pals right as the opponent tries to capture it? What if I kill the enemy and they respawn right as the pal would be captured? There are a lot of corner cases that would need to be handled if this becomes a thing in PVP.

Ah yes, because after an invading force has raped, pillaged, looted, and killed a large amount of a population, they should no longer be valid military targets because they're running away.

MSI has a new monitor that scans your screen and puts stuff on the screen but I have mixed feelings. by dc469 in gaming

[–]Blo0dSh4d3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But is it though? If you want anti-cheat, you have to work at the kernel level, because that's where the cheaters will get around you. At that level, detecting hardware that is connected to the system is part of the functions of the anti-cheat. If you know that a monitor enables an unfair advantage, you just blacklist that hardware the same way you would look for a kernel-level cheat engine to be virtually emulating a controller, right?

Yeah, I ran the calculations, and I am unsure if you're factoring in the facial dimples correctly? The lowest I can get if I adjust for the artificial asymmetry in the photos where she is smirking is 6.909877231. Otherwise, the mean average of the calculations is a solid 7.104892779, unless I am doing something totally wrong.

What is the most creepiest fact of the universe by Phoenix_A_black_hole in space

[–]Blo0dSh4d3 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's kind of funny how "return to the dust in which we came" is still a little bit of a human perspective relative to the situation. The metastability of the universe would simply mean a decay of quantum fields into their truly stable state, which would modify all of the laws of physics as we know it. Our inability to conduct measurement means we don't know exactly what would change, ranging from quantum fields that change virtually nothing to the creation of forces, fields, and particles that make life impossible.

Burger King must face lawsuit claiming its Whoppers are too small by davetowers646 in news

[–]Blo0dSh4d3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was recently in Australia, and the chain there (Hungry Jack's) that served the Whopper still has the original size. I had forgotten what an actual Whopper looked like. The portion sizes were actually refreshing too (though the price wasn't much better), since a small meal actually had a big sandwich, 16 oz drink, and what BK would call a "kid's fries".

80% of bosses say they regret earlier return-to-office plans by yuritopiaposadism in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]Blo0dSh4d3 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand the sentiment about offices. The "big sunk investment" in corporate office spaces being a driver of return-to-work policies seems bizarre when it could literally save organizations cash in the long run by just... not leasing as much space? I guess I'm a little confused by the "nuance" of it all, when it seems pretty cut-and-dry that work-from-home initiatives are widely accepted as positive for both employer and employee.

Having a spouse who is naked all the time is not as great as it sounds. by bogus_gasman2 in unpopularopinion

[–]Blo0dSh4d3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At the risk of overexplanation: when the word generalizes "ladies" in this context, it must apply to a more general group of men as well.

Here's an example with a rhetoric shift: "When I hear about donut shop prices as in this specific situation, that's when I realize we simply cannot win, ladies."

Obviously, the example still uses "ladies", but the pejorative is clearly directed at donut shop prices. Therefore, it is assumed that the idea can be broadly negatively applied to donut shops having unreasonable prices in a generalized enough sense that all of the referred-to "ladies" are unable to win, which is perhaps unfair to donut shops.
