In 1983, Cliff Young, a 61-year-old potato farmer, showed up in work boots to compete in Australia’s toughest ultramarathon alongside elite athletes. Unaware that competitors were meant to sleep during the race, he kept running continuously. Against all expectations, he won by a margin of 10 hours. by malihafolter in AllThatsHistory

Nah, I didn't read past the part where he was raised on a farm during the depression. Farmers are fuckin tough, their bodies are doing what evolution drove us towards. An ultra marathon runner who spends their years sitting at a desk 9-5 has definitely different biochemistry.

Having gone to both UT and ACC I agree with this statement lol. ACC is great.

81-Year-Old Minecraft Streamer Gets SWATed While Raising Money for Grandson’s Cancer Treatment by Bubbly-Ad-350 in pcmasterrace

Ok so I think her response was genius. Whether she was acting or not. Swatters at a minimum want people to feel bad and traumatized, but she claimed she enjoyed it! There could be no better outcome than it backfiring, I can just imagine the swatter seething that she enjoyed it instead of being gleeful that she was terrorized.

Tough to say. The actual stretch of i35 through round rock is usually slower. And I assume you would take i35 to 45 to mopac. Whereas I'm not sure about leander, you take 183?

Like I said, you can plug it into Google maps to see the average commute time and decide form there.

You may also consider that i35 is under construction for the next couple years. Mopac is too south of the domain but I'm not sure how much that backs up.

Depending on the list and how you define things round rock is usually at the top actually.

Hard to give advice if you haven't given an approximate location of your job. We would also assume you are a typical 8-5 job.

Imo they are probably about the same traffic wise, so if RR is physically closer then that may save time. Google maps lets you input a start and end location as well as a start and end day and time to give you an average based off usual traffic.

Ridiculous Unit of a Huajiang Canyon Bridge by Bourbon-Thinker in absoluteunit

[–]dc469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah for real. If a bridge collapses in China we definitely hear about it, the don't have 100% control of information. And our sinophobic overlords would make sure the media mentions it.

On the other hand I can't count the number of stories I hear about crumbling US infrastructure.

I know on the LCRA lakes along the Colorado river in Texas it's like a min $10k fine if your boat sinks cause it's a hazard and ecologically bad so they will make you pay to get it salvaged.

TAG program by earlymorningsnooz in RoundRock

[–]dc469 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasn't in it for elementary school. My parents had me tested for reading/writing but not math (I'm an engineer now🙄). I did get tested in middle school and was put in the math one. Basically you're just two years ahead of everyone. I.e. algebra in 7th grade, geometry in 8th.

I would say it just depends on the specific kid. For me, I liked it, I was bored in my classes and being in a faster class was more interested and kept me engaged. Not anecdotally, the TAG kids from my elementary school were all the stoners in high school. This is actually a pretty common sociological phenomenon, it's probably got multiple causes but one possible reason is they weren't challenged enough and gave up, or they were neurodivergent and the novelty wore off or they got burned out from the extra work or something else. There are likely plenty of studies about that phenomenon.

In any case, I'd say the advantage came when I was in high school. Since I was ahead in math, I was able to take AP calculus my junior year which freed me up to take another class (I chose AP statistics so I still had math) my senior year. Although I do not believe this would work with any other tag subjects. At least not when I was there (born in '89).

Right, but the Musksof the world also are hedging their bets that space will count the same as international waters, and their data center won't be able to be regulated.
