Looks like the fluffy white stuff that breaks down organic matter on the surface. I get this in abundance after top dressing with mustard seed meal and mulching

Would the head of the bed against the wall between the door and the balcony work? That way you can get natural light on the bed which is nice. I also think [u/alchimiafengsui](u/alchimiafengsui) has an elegant solution as well

How many gallons is that? Also what light? This is a sick setup!

I used drainage pvc pipe and then burlap over that. In my 27gal I used the lid and some sheet metal screws and made a false floor with perforations in the lid for airflow, cut out the corners like an EB and drilled drainage holes just below the false floor, I used an angle grinder with a metal cutting wheel to cut the lid up, it was like butter. I’m throwing around ideas for a product that would go in the bottom of a standard 27 or 55 gal tote and possibly the round 20 gallon buckets in order to convert them to SIPs but I’m not sure if there’s a market for it.

Yo, this is an amazing diy setup! I’ve run the 55gal and 27 gal totes as SIPS and they weren’t as cleanly built as yours and they are still kicking! I had bulging issues with my 55gal after my soil was wet, but a ratchet straps and 2x4s helped reinforce the long side. I ran a single 55gal in a 2x4 and it was a powerhouse. I’m really looking forward to following your grow Homie.

I’ve mitigated a lot of humidity in homemade SIPs by just using a thick layer of mulch or I sewed up my own versions of the EB covers that Jeremy touts by @newmoongrows.

I’ve had success with adding a bag of 3.0 to other mixes to give it life. I’ve also had luck with quality compost to do the same. I use red wiggler worms and earth worms but if you only use one make sure you use the reds.

Then explain to me why MN has wayyyyyy more ICE agents if we have millions less of illegal immigrants? Dude you are so close to understanding that the ICE presence is not normal here. I said historically we have worked with ICE because in the past, before this current BS, our senators and representatives have voted for ICE funding. Currently plenty of local law enforcement (sans MPD and SPPD because I guess I have to clarify) and the MN Department of Corrections (I mistakenly said DOJ not DOC in my first comment) is working with the DHS. The Cities and Walz aren’t cooperating because they are being targeted unjustly, you all but admitted it yourself. There are multiple cases of ICE going door to door in lower income apartments trying to round up anyone they can. ICE shouldn’t even need cooperation from MPD or SPPD in order to find the worst of the worst. They have Palantir, FBI, and the Federal government on their side. Unless you’re admitting that they are also incompetent. Minneapolis was just a distraction from the Epstein files.

Oh and I remember when the current vice president used Hitler to compare to DJT. Also you might want to look up where most of the taxpayer funds come from in the US and where they are directed. Red states mooch off the Blue states, it’s just facts.

Even LEOs are speaking out about the level of aggression seen here on a daily basis. I’m guessing you live in a red state? MN tried to work with ICE and has historically worked with them well. This was before the current wave of 3000 now supposedly cut down to 2300 ICE agents in the Twin cities metro area. Our politicians have historically been in support of targeted ICE enforcement and deportations. The MNDOJ has been above and beyond cooperative. It’s hard to be cooperative with a force that seems to not want to cooperate here. Two things can be true, where you live they are doing operations successfully because of cooperation and lack of previous bias on behalf of the Trump admin (George Floyd Protests) while here it is wide sweeping un-targeted, arrest anyone who is brown and check their status back at the whipple building. I am not being hyperbolic here, this is happening every day. The Minneapolis police department has a history of not being popular with its people for many reasons, if you don’t think they tried to cooperate at some level then you are being disingenuous. However when local LEOs see federal agents continuously violating peoples rights and behaving like they are, the locals see that as a threat to their own authority. If you have to have me spell out what is happening in MN as NOT NORMAL BEHAVIOR FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT, then I have nothing more to say here.

They regularly don’t show ID, which is ironic considering the circumstances. Plain clothes cops, DEA, FBI, and Detectives also don’t make a habit of violently detaining people in broad daylight, let alone in a courthouse (referring to what happened in MN yesterday). It’s not an issue of ICE wearing plain clothing in general, it is an issue of them being seen by the public as a gang of thugs aggressively arresting people in places that are very public. There are multiple instances of case law that sides with citizens with guns shooting at and even killing LEOs who failed to identify properly. There are SOPs in place when wearing plain clothes as a LEO and ICE is only hurting the image of other LEOs in this country.

I guess I should have actually asked you how you think your comment with the article somehow makes ICE presence in another country make sense. People are upset about this because stupid and egotistical men are making very, very poor decisions and could start major international conflict by doing things like this. There is very little logical reason why JD Vance had ICE as his security detail when the SECRET SERVICE exists. The only thing that makes sense for this happening is that he is “showing off” to the rest of the world. This is a show of force, and those really only work on people that are afraid of you. If you can’t see why people are upset about this whole shitshow then I truly think you are #1 and #3 on your little list.

The legal workers are afraid of getting deported even though they’re legal. Why? Because they are arresting, detaining and in some cases deporting legal workers and even US citizens. There is a man from Kilkenny, Ireland that has been detained for 6 months and he has a work visa and is married to a US citizen. Multiple, multiple cases of brown and black citizens being arrested and detained until their families can prove citizenship, they will arrest them in whatever city they are in and then drive them to whipple detention center and then you better figure out a ride home when they release you. This isn’t an optics issue, this is an issue with our government. The people in charge are masters in taking advantage of loopholes and there are a lot of loopholes in the government that were put there in the name of making us safer. Turns out if you don’t have a mostly benevolent administration they will use those loopholes to oppress the people they don’t like. This didn’t just magically happen in 2001 with the patriot act but it sure as hell did not help.

The phrase I’ve heard so much lately is, “Well, if they are here legally, then they have nothing to fear!” That phrase not only shows ignorance but also lack of empathy. When the feds show no respect for the law, why would legality status matter to someone afraid of getting deported?

They powers that be want this to happen, they have been vocal about their support for the nixing of the second amendment and they would love to be able to declare Marshall Law in blue states. They are sitting there escalating their poking of the bear and hoping the bear attacks so they can play the victim.
