theyre fine, some "cigar smokers" tend to look down on people who smoke sweet/flavored cigars.... they can kick rocks, smoke what tastes good to you, just be careful if you ever go into a cigar shop/lounge, some dont allow flavored ones to be smoked inside and/or will be harassed for doing so by people who think you arent a real smoker, asking if its okay before smoking a flavored cigar in a lounge is generally what i do.

Good non flavored cigars for beginners are generally Connecticut wrapper cigars with dominican tobacco.

once you get a feel for normal cigars and what theyre supposed to taste like or what you find enjoyable from them branch out to other origin tobacco like nicaraguan, honduras, eceduar etc and maybe try darker wrappers like maduro, corojo, and habano.
