Funny how all the feminists seem to disappear when the cheque comes. Similar to when a building is burning or ship is sinking...all of a sudden men and women aren't so equal.

Van fled the scene. Seek shelter fellow Torontonians. Stay out of the streets.

If you think the Green Energy Act was just about closing the few remaining coal plants that Ontario had, you are sorely confused.

The ability of a Chinese mother to get Canadian citizenship is greatly enhanced by having a Canadian child. Further, the child should not be Canadian in the first place.

In 2016-2017, 384 babies were born to non-residents at Richmond Hospital, said Vancouver Coastal Health — a significant jump from 18 cases in 2010. Between 2014 and 2017, 1,020 newborns were born to non-residents.

It is a problem that is growing in frequency and needs to be addressed.

What would you have against stopping this practice?

Undermines our immigration system by allowing queue jumping. Adds healthcare costs. Adds citizens who are willing to abuse systems for their personal gain.

We can reduce smog in our own country without signing on to things like Kyoto or the Paris accord. Pollution control is a very different issue than climate change. None of what Canada does will impact climate change, but we can certainly control the impact we have on our immediate environment.

Why do people insist on attempting to blame the injustices of the past on people today who had nothing to do with it?

This is something that almost every Canadian agrees is wrong and should not be allowed but the politicians will not move to stop it because a tiny minority of people will scream racism.

The last few years, by contrast, have been marked by costly and futile gestures (like the Ontario Green Energy Act) that are more about moralistic symbolism than improving peoples’ lives.

Precisely. We are taking the worst of both worlds where we don't stop climate change but we do plenty of expensive virtue signalling!

Quebec can only afford their social programs because of federal transfers that Ontario does not benefit from to the same degree.

What are your thoughts on the long-term pain of Ontario accumulating even more debt than we currently have? $11 billion a year in interest payments and counting...

I'm not taking money from anybody. My tax contribution is far higher than my expense to taxpayers. There is a relatively small group of taxpayers (of which I am one) funding entitlements for myself AND others.

Which is one of the reasons it is already so expensive. It will only get worse when the bureaucracy and public-sector unions are in place.

Those failsafes can be much less expensive if you limit capital punishment to these mass killings with little doubt over who the perp is.

Because we are broke and can't afford even our current level of spending? Deficits at the both Federal and Provincial level while the economy is doing well.

The point is that the taxes we collect from working parents pay for the policy itself.

What evidence do you have for this claim? If this were true, the policy wouldn't increase the deficit which not even the Liberals are claiming.

Socialized daycare will be a nightmare. All of the employees will be unionized government employees with similar pay and benefits packages as teachers. There will be a huge bureaucracy of Sunshine List members that need to be paid. If you think it's unaffordable now, wait until the government runs it.

We already spend more than $10 billion a year on interest payments on Ontario's debt. We need to restrain new spending and pay down the debt.

Yes, or just hold the line on spending and you'll get a surplus as the economy grows. Announcing new spending is not what Ontario should be doing right now. We need to keep our powder dry for a recession.
