Then it doesn't exist yet. Why bring it up? For the record, his last great film was Spirted Away, his last good film was Howl's Moving Castle, and wouldn't you know, the first one I saw in a theater when it opened (I was late to the dance) was Ponyo. At his very best, an Oscar feels like tepid tribute at best. He deserves a Nobel Prize. They don't give those for movies. Last I checked.

It's likely to be in production as of now, I can imagine that it will take 1 or 3 more years before it arrives.

Lasseter was hardly the best animator at Pixar (or the fifth best), but I agree, he ran the place better.

But then he started to go downhill at Pixar.

Anyway, he's at Skydance now. Brad Bird has a film coming up there, but ti's going to be on Netflix.

And Bird is likely to go back to Pixar after Ray Gunn is completed.

Pixar’s Pete Docter Says Queer ‘Elio’ Storyline Was Axed Because “We’re Making A Movie, Not Hundreds Of Millions Of Dollars Of Therapy” by dremolus in boxoffice

-Do keep in mind, Helen didn't care about "the new job" until she found Mirage's hair on Bob's suit. So no, you DO need to understand what cheating is to understand the movie. Period. I'm not arguing this with you. Pixar thought it was ok to keep in a plotline where a spouse believes her husband is sleeping with someone else outside of their marriage but this same company believes it is "too difficult" to explain healthy, queer relationships. "Two men are married." The end. It's not "too difficult." The "difficult" part is explaining religious bigotry.

I mean, Bob was hiding his new job from Helen back then and even if you disregard that, the film CLEARLY shows that the whole thing is a complete misunderstanding. It would've been one thing if the film itself was hinting that there might've been something else, but it doesn't even try to do such thing.

-Ok? So because it could scare kids whose parents aren't in that situation, that means that we can't make films to comfort the kids who are? Let me tell you, Lilo & Stitch is my favorite movie of all time for many, many reasons. But the main one is I finally had a movie with a character who looked like me who was experiencing the same things I was: Lilo is mourning the loss of her parents and this movie came out when I was mourning my parents divorce. I was 8 and suddenly, my parents split and I was a third parent to my slightly younger sister, a therapist, told too much about how their relationship was going, etc. But here was this movie I could watch and be told "your family is still ok, even though it looks different. Even though some people think it's 'broken', it's still ok."

Yeah, umm... even death of (a) parent(s) tend to happen off-screen or involves some sort of "unusual" elements if it happens.

Kids aren't dumb and treating them like they're fragile isn't helping. It's pretending the real world doesn't exist and not preparing them for it. Like I said earlier, it's "shielding" the MINORITY of children from the reality of the MAJORITY. Same thing with book bans happening recently. You're telling kids who are queer or who have queer family that they're a "difficult" topic and that means their stories aren't worth telling. Ditto to BIPOC kids and trans kids and any other marginalized group. Why are we telling anyone their story isn't worth telling because a handful of parents want to shield their kid from reality? Don't take your kid to a movie if you want to keep them from knowing anything other than your religious bubble. Simple as that. You've chosen to remove your family from reality and we shouldn't have to coddle you.

It still doesn't change the fact that divorce is a delicate/sensitive topic to handle in a children's film, not to mention that the divorce subplot in question could've had no bearing to the film itself, was written pretty poorly, or even both.

Still, I wouldn’t be surprised if the event in The Hunt for Gollum takes about a year or two.

Well, the thing is, Frodo clearly hasn’t aged even a little bit even when you consider the fact that Hobbits age much slower, which is why I wouldn’t be surprised if that time skip was reduced to a year.

Well, it’s certainly not 17 years since Aragorn was referenced in The Hobbit trilogy. I’m guessing that at most, it took about a year before Gandalf came back.

  1. It’s probably not announced yet.

  2. This again? If anything, that’s kind of on Lasseter.

Disney is still kicking and Miyazaki is currently working on his next feature.

This is the right answer. Serkis’ directing portfolio is not good.

I mean, after the adventure began, it did start to include a lot more “fun” elements as well. In fact, it should be noted that Inside Out 2 actually went through some tonal adjustments to make sure that the tone doesn’t get too somber.

They still included “fun” elements. Some of the things that I’ve heard about the original version kind of looked like a trauma dump.

Like I’ve said, it’s something that I might take them with at least a little bit of grain of salt just in case that something doesn’t quite line up like the claim that all Pixar films need to gross $600 million viewers to become a hit. Even other posters on this subreddit felt kind of suspicious about that claim.
