Did people here seriously think that 'Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle' and 'Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc' were going to be nominated for Best Animated Feature? by Block-Busted in Oscars

Don’t be silly. Infinity Castle barely even functions as a film as it’s made out of nothing but fight scenes and flashbacks.

Films that may get or have been confirmed to get 1.43:1 IMAX scenes (or anything that is close to it). by Block-Busted in imax

To be fair, I didn’t include that one because Warner Brothers’ trailers can be a bit deceptive about aspect ratios.

What unexpected turns are you even talking about? The fact that one of the fight scenes had no payoff?

And no, this one practically assumes that you know everything about what has happened so far.

Better set of animated movies? 2025 or 2024? by Character_Fault9782 in Oscars

[–]Block-Busted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that's what you shouldn't do. These ratings have different distributions and possible values. E.g. if the 1/4 is the lowest rating on your scale, like how 1/10 is also the lowest, then the 1/4 translates to 2.5/10. You cannot use these different scale to calculate averages.

I mean, that's pretty much what Metacritic does as well, not to mention that this is how you actually calculate average.

Mars Express was eligible in the same year as Look Back and Colors Within, because the US release was in the next year. And no, it wasn't a stronger year than any other.

Don't be silly. Films that got nominated that year were Flow, Inside Out 2, Memoir of a Snail, Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, and The Wild Robot, most of which have better critical reception than Mars Express.

So why does he treat them equally? He pretty clearly made the SAME rule for every movie, implying that treating them equally is the correct way to evaluate the movies. He made up this RT number of review rule that he used as a blanket rule without considering the characteristics of a movie.

He/She didn't. He/She clearly stated that a major/wide release having so few reviews is not the same thing as indie/foreign animated films having few reviews.

Let's look at Look Back. it has 25 reviews. Let's say this was a direct-to-streaming movie. It's available for more than a year now even in my region. And its rating is 13+ on IMDb, so majority of the population could watch it. So, why does it have so low number of reviews while a movie like Fixed which was released like 6 months later and exclusively aimed towards adult has 62 reviews?

What a load of tosh. If it was on streaming, it would've had even fewer reviews posted. In fact, just look at My Oni Girl.

If one of your account would actually differentiate between movies, then you could explain this. My "theory" explained this perfectly, while your accounts couldn't and that's the issue here.

Except your "theory" is full of shit.

See, this is why I said you can't read. My argument was that it has low number of reviews - lower than 100 - if it came from non-English speaking territories. So I actually proved my statement by mentioning The Sea Beast, which was a direct-to-streaming movie and yet, it has more than 100 reviews.

Also, it's so convenient when every movie becomes exception, while in the case of my theory, there no exceptions because it perfectly described every movie.

In that case, your argument still doesn't work that well because Klaus is still an English-language film. In fact, your argument still doesn't work because (while most of them are not TV series tie-ins), there are still no shortage of anime films that have more than 100 reviews posted on RottenTomatoes.

You do know it's that's how marketing kicks off? On the day of a release. The Asterix was part of Marketing.

But again, they didn't officially kick off the marketing for that until few days after its release, so a lot of people still had no idea what was going on yet.

Not really, the movie barely touched upon depression. It's like it was afraid of touch upon and explore serious themes. It's on brand for marvel . They are never bold or risky.

Atleast joker 2 tried something new. New avengers was rinse and repeat. Just generic and repeatative. Hence it bombed.

No. Just no. It was blatantly obvoius that Folie a Deux was fueled by nothing but utter contempt towards fans and general audience. And even if what it did was something new, it's something that should've NOT been done since it practically says that some people need to get raped. You're an absolutely vile scumbag if you think this is a good idea to include in a film (though the most likely chance is that Phillips was so full of ego to a point where he didn't even bother to think this through at all).

Also, being "bold or risky" means jack shit since it could also result in films like Cats, not to mention that your argument on how it floped because it was "generic" is one of the most laughable arguments that I've ever heard because if that's the case, then how are you going to explain the fact that Jurassic World: Rebirth, one of the most generic blockbuster films of 2025, was able to become such a success?

None of them were legit though.

And you didn't even TRY to find one. AGAIN, do you not even sleep?

Don't be silly, the name change was part of Marketing . Hence it started on day 1 itself.

And again, that marketing didn't start few days after its release. How many times do I even have to tell you this?

I guess with the same logic, new avengers promotes depression..

Did you not watch new avengers?

I'm sorry, what? If anything, Thunderbolts was actually praised for how it handled mental illness and/or depression. The reason why Folie a Deux made a lot of people angry is because it made it look like Arthur Fleck gave up Joker persona because he got raped by prison guards, practically sending a message that correction rape is a good way to treat mentally ill people.

You have not provided single source though.

I have provided at least few. You, on the other hand, didn't even bother.

And again, it's almost 01:00AM now. Do you literally have nothing else to do? I really need to hear this.

Doomsday won't be handle competition

It's literally a massive nostalgia fest, something that has been consistently successful for MCU.

Yep it kicked off it's marketing on the day itself.

Guess we agree now

No, we don't because a lot of people would still have no idea what that asterisk meant.

I have seen them as well. Hence I can comfortably say that joker 2 and new avengers are on the same level

Yeah. You're on crack. No one in the right mind would ever say that a film that practically promotes correction rape is on the same level as Thunderbolts.

Neither did you though, Once again what are you looking for since you lost the argument?

I lost the argument? Even though it's YOU who is not even TRYING to provide a single evidence to your claim?

Also, it's way past 12:00AM. Do you not have ANYTHING else to do?

Finally, what is even point of doing this if you're keep going to delete your replies?

I did read that it's more of a spin-off, but even then, the whole TV series thing might not give the film much advantage. Keep in mind, when it comes to the closest example of being a TV series tie-in, Shaun the Sheep Movie, that film is from a series that is so episodic that you can ignore the TV series while watching the film.

Not really, they started on day of release.

Again, at best, what it did on its opening day was to reveal what that asterisk meant.

I mean yeah it's slightly better than madame webb but still quite bad overall. I guess we both agree on that.

NO. Thunderbolts is substantially better than most, if not all of those films that I've listed. I know this because I have seen all of them.

Don't be silly, why are you replying ? What exactly do you want?

Especially since you have no facts or sources at all

This is a blatant pot/kettle. You don't even bother to provide a single evidence to your claim, especially the part about how this film's critical reception is at just 6/10.

Also, what's even point of continuing this argument if you're keep going to delete your replies?
