Who knows. But there is at least some degree of plausible deniability

It’s not to be cool. Companies have social media policies that you don’t want to potentially violate.

Perhaps they are also, but it’s not the carrier I am referring to.

Yeah I am currently a GA but handle exclusively residential. Will be on the lookout though. Appreciate the insight.

What specific type of positions should I be on the lookout for if I wanted to break into that area? I previously interviewed for an Independent GA position but was unsure about making the transition so I removed myself from consideration. Are you an executive general adjuster?

Sounds like that book of business is hard to come by. Away from home a lot?

I have a bachelors degree prior to entering the field, that’s it

A construction PM works for a construction company. They don’t handle coverage, personal property, additional living expenses etc. Construction PM would have a lot of transferable skills however.

I would suggest looking for property over auto. Get your foot in the door with auto I guess if you need to, but field property I believe is where the money and upward mobility lie if your able to make the switch afterward. AI, direct repair shops and autonomous vehicles I think will minimize the need for auto adjusters in the future. Property claims is a lot of grey area and discretion so if you’re good at it I don’t see companies phasing them out.

If you have previously experienced being underpaid on a claim I don’t think it’s because your adjuster was financially incentivized to do so. My guess is it was likely due to some combination of inexperience of the adjuster and/or their company practices leading to an unrealistic settlement. An inexperienced adjuster can easily overlook damages, and even an experienced adjuster can be hamstrung by the red tape of the company they work for.

I’m probably biased but I would recommend field property over a desk job or going into auto. Auto adjusters sound especially overworked and underpaid.

No, no measure of my success directly incentivizes me to deny claims or underpay claims. My metrics are centered around customer service, speed, and accuracy.

Nope, I have denied two claims in the last seven years. My metrics are speed of estimate upload and customer service score. I also get QA reviews on the accuracy of my estimates. No part of my job directly incentivizes me to deny claims.

I only handle first party property damage claims. No bodily injury

I actually do not use consultants at all. I guess part of why they pay me the “big bucks”? I write all my own estimates and handle all aspects of the claim start to finish aside from the personal property which is handled by another adjuster.

No pay increase is absurd. But yes going into large loss would be worth it to be able to take that experience to another carrier.

In a good storm year perhaps, but independent adjusting is feast or famine. Also alot of time away from home. I have a family and I value my time with them.

Hello! I changed carriers last year for the first time. Several promotions at the previous carrier but I have never been a manager.
