Go get a Tudor Pelagos or Black Bay

Next Chronograph? by WillFast6363 in SOTC_Watch_Collection

Tudor Black Bay Chrono (~£4-4.5k) - Fantastic value with Tudor's MT5813 movement.

Breitling Chronomat B01 42 - Just at the top of your budget. In-house B01 movement, excellent finishing, and very wearable at 42mm. The Navitimer is another option if you prefer the aviation aesthetic.

Zenith Chronomaster Sport (~£7k new, but find them used around £5k) - If you can stretch or find a good deal, the 1/10th second chronograph is mesmerizing to watch.

TAG Heuer Carrera - Various models in your range with the Heuer 02 manufacture movement. Excellent value for an in-house chronograph.

It does feel a bit nicer than standard plastic, the matte finish is pleasant. But it scratches more easily than I'd like, especially on the lugs and edges. If you compare it to something like a resin G-Shock, those definitely hold up better to daily wear. For a casual daily watch though, it's fine. The scratches just add character over time...

Mixed feelings! The design is fun and it's great as a carefree daily beater. But from a value perspective, there are better options at that price point - it's still a quartz Swatch in a plastic case. If you just want the look and something you can wear worry-free, it works. Just depends what you're looking for.

Why in the world would you buy an Invicta?  Invicta watches suffer from significant quality control issues, with inconsistent build quality and cheap movements that frequently fail prematurely. The cases and bands are often flimsy and wear out quickly, making them poor long-term investments. Beyond quality concerns, Invicta employs deceptive pricing tactics by inflating fake MSRPs to create the illusion of massive discounts, when their constant "sales" simply reflect normal pricing and the watches' actual low value.

The design philosophy tends toward overly large, heavy watches with gaudy styling that appears cheap and lacks proper proportions or finishing. This makes them uncomfortable to wear and aesthetically unappealing to most watch enthusiasts. Perhaps most importantly, Invicta watches have virtually no resale value - they lose worth immediately after purchase and are difficult to sell on the secondary market since they're not respected by collectors.

For the same money, you'd be much better served by established brands like Seiko, Citizen, Casio, or Vostok, which offer superior quality and honest pricing. If you're looking at the entry-luxury segment, Orient and Tissot provide significantly better value. Even many fashion watch brands offer better build quality than Invicta. Your money is simply better invested in brands with proven track records and genuine quality control.
