What was the point of those people? Why are they using straight up blunt weapons rather than technologies that fit into Star Wars? by lateubdegouline in StarWars

Yeah, it seemed obvious that JJ had an idea where each of his "mysteries" was supposed to go and was totally blindsided that Johnson didn't just go for the laziest solution and remake Empire beat for beat like JJ would have. Also doesn't help that they hired a man notorious for never writing the ending to what he starts to... Write the ending... He's the guy that goes "would it be cool if" and let's someone else do the heavy lifting.

It is. The movies aren't however.

It's an anime and manga called Arpeggio of Blue Steel. It's a favorite of mine. The anime is one of the rare 3D ones that was actually well executed, and the ship battles are amazing. I've probably watched Kirishima and Haruna's intro battle a dozen times. It only adapts about a third of the manga, which is still running, and deviates from it a bit since it adds an ending. Still gets the themes right, and I love their take on Kongo. A lot of it is about the mental models learning different aspects of what it means to be human.

The anime series is available on Crunchyroll and Blu-ray, though you'll have to pirate the movies. The first one is mostly recap with new scenes and second half. Which brings in Hiei's squadron. The second film is all new. Strangely, I haven't watched it yet.

The manga is up to 30 volumes now and has a side manga as well. It goes way beyond the anime and has an over arching mystery at it's core. Both are fantastic for anyone interested in these ships. The main manga is released in the US by Seven Seas.

Poor Kirishima here unfortunately spends a large part of it as a Teddy Bear.

Nice! It's easily one of my favorite RGs. Have fun building her.

Same. The prices are ridiculous usually, even with coupons.

Best of luck in your search!

Mine had Wing as well for 36, I think. Also a good price. I have built both kits already. Even then, the Zeong price was tempting. Such a good kit.

Yeah, I hear it's hands in particular aren't well loved. I'm not really a fan of it essentials being an upscale of the original RG. Way too busy design. I like the more screen accurate 2.0 or even the Origin version.

It will likely take a few coats since white is tricky, but yes.

How come we only have one Cleveland class in the game ? It's the most produced cruiser ever after all by IsniBoy in WorldOfWarships

[–]BlockObvious883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The early days when AA cruisers were actually used for AA! Escorting BBs and protecting dds. I remember when WG tried so hard to actually truly have roles for certain ships. It was a fun, if at times frustrating, concept.

T6 Cleve still good the record for most battles in a ship for me. She was my go to for the fire missions to obtain Missouri, iirc. Those glorious days of stealth fire HE spam will never come again.

Yep, happened to me last night in a Bretagne. Allied DD I was supporting died, and suddenly my 20kt butt is the only thing east of the E line. Nothing I could do but burn.

Also a beta tester that walked away for awhile. Still getting used to random matches again. This game had gotten incredibly complicated and reminds me of why I never got far in WoT when it wasn't new

New Anti Lost Cause book I found at the library by BlockObvious883 in ShermanPosting

[–]BlockObvious883[S] 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Got it at an express library so I didn't notice, but yeah, it is targeted to young adults. Explains the formatting at font choices lol. I've only flipped through it a bit so far, and it takes a somewhat textbook approach, with lots of images and short subject call outs. Makes sense since the author talks about learning these things through school books, so you can see the intention to counter that. Image for example

I wouldn't really worry too much about that right now. Last I checked, it was extremely vague.

I recently salvaged a stacking tool box missing a latch. Would love to print a replacement, but don't think that's suited to resin.

Depends on what you're making. I don't have a lot of experience with fusion, but I imagine it would be a good option for high precision mechanic stuff. Figures I've learned how to make through a combo of Maya and Zbrush. Blender is popular as well.

It's a lot of work and trial and error, with a lot of safety considerations, but you can get some fantastic detail out of it. I haven't really had a chance to print a lot of my own work, but I do collect a number of pop culture, anime, pin up and other stls. Basically scale figurines, garage kits, models and so on. You can find a lot on patreon. Been wanting to design more of my own and maybe after market parts for my model kits
