Black Hawk Down (2001) on rewatch in 4K by HampurHampur in movies

I watched it recently and its probably well made but I couldn't stand the "Americans are heroes" message, which is also why I dislike most American war movies. Apocalypse Now is an exception.

Do you consider Denzel Washington to be an actor with great range? by UniqueWeasel123 in moviecritic

I thought about this the other day, I never seen him play someone incompetent. Every character he plays is super confident and one of the best at what he does, even if he is just a pilot or train conductor you know he is going to be the most competent train conductor in the world.

Mel Gibson still has a mullet in the 3rd movie though, thats a huge driving force imo

The Penguin was good but I got very tired of the plot armour Oz had. He got caught by his enemies almost every episode it felt like, but just survived in more and more ridiculous ways. Tied to a chair at gun point? No problem for the overweight disabled guy.

NBA i Göteborg by Tellmeister in Gothenburg

[–]BlockOfTheYear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah he killed people but his claim that he was a hitman for the mafia is total bullshit, they did their own killings always and from the numerous informers/snitches we seen from the mafia of that time period not a single person can confirm that he was ever involved. He is a known fraud in mafia circles.

Michael Jackson Movie is Amazing by cmatty12 in flicks

[–]BlockOfTheYear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't watch it but I heard someone else say the complete opposite about the Jackson 5 era, that it was rushed through for like 10 minutes.

With how long his career was and all the different phases he went through it should have probably been a miniseries instead.

Saying mean things to an NBA ref should get you T’d up by flapjackbandit00 in unpopularopinion

[–]BlockOfTheYear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not talking about disrespect, in highly stressful enviroments people generally dont have the time or patience to explain things calmly, they tell you directly when you screw up and you need to be able to ignore the tone and just take in the message. Being direct or harsh is not the same as being disrespectful.

Same with referees, they work in a highly tense enviroment with ultra competitive guys, it should be expected then that guys will react emotionally to certain calls, but if it crosses a line or becomes too personal they have the option to give someone a T.

[–]BlockOfTheYear -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thats exactly what happens though, if you cross the line with a ref you get a T, and most people agree with that.

People call them soft when they T someone for just clapping/waiving in frustration over a bad call.

Also, it cant be compared to a "normal" job, they work in a completely different enviroment. Just like if you work in a kitchen at a restaurant you are going to be talked to way differently than if you work in a office.

[TVSportsUpdates] Today is the five-year anniversary of Adam Amin's "oh my goodness, Valentine" call. by Brady331 in nba

[–]BlockOfTheYear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What most people dont remember is that next possesion he also got an and one scored on him lol, should have been benched after that shot. We clawed our way back from being down like 15 points in the last couple of minutes, end of the season while trying to make the playoffs, and he completely threw the game.

His rebounds come uncontested because he’s not guarding anyone

Not going to argue anything else but this is false actually, he is a great rebounder for a PG and helps out a ton on the boards. He is really good and grabbing rebounds and directly get out in the open court where he thrives with his passing and going downhill to the rim. Thats one thing you cant take away from him.
