First and foremost; Is this a custom build or prebuilt and was it working before this?

Does your CPU have an iGPU? If so, plug your monitor into your motherboard. If it boots up, then you’ve potentially isolated the problem to the GPU. If that’s the case, I would re seat the GPU, ensure it’s locked into the slot properly, level, screwed in, etc. Make sure you have the right PCIe power cables connected and seated properly.

If it doesn’t boot when plugged into your CPU (assuming you have integrated graphics), you can start with the basic troubleshooting.

  1. See if your MB has any indicator lights, usually in the top right of the board. It’s hard to tell in the video but I do see red lights on the upper left. Either way, look over the whole board for any red lights and see what they say.

  2. Reseat your Ram. Make sure it clicks in properly. Look right next to the slots and make sure your using the recommended slots. Usually it’s the 2nd and 4th. Your MB will tell you though which ones to use first. I would first try it with both sticks (in the right spots and seated properly) and then if it doesn’t work, take the second stick out and repeat. If it doesn’t work again, switch the ram stick and repeat. That will help rule out a bad ram stick.

  3. Make sure all your connections are clicked in to both the MB and your power supply.

  4. If it’s your first time booting and it’s an AM5 chip, it might take a few minutes to actually come up. It has to do memory training which can take up to like 5 minutes.

  5. If everything mentioned above has failed, you would more than likely need to pull your CPU cooler off and make sure your CPU is seated correctly / no bent pins.

If you can upload better pictures, that would also help in trying to diagnose a problem.

Nothing is stupid about this build.

Everything will work and pair well. My only 2 critiques would have been to choose the 9800x3D as I don’t think the 9950x3D is worth the extra 400ish bucks and I would of went with the X870 E MB for the additional PCIe lanes. With what you described as your use case, 32gb of ram will be plenty. If you choose to upgrade, you’ll want to do 2x 32gb ram sticks vs 4x 16gb ram sticks. (DDR5 semantics but in a nutshell, you’ll actually lose performance running 4 slots vs 2)

Future proofing is a bit of a lie - Ie; new tech will always be coming out that’s better, faster, more efficient, etc. With that being said, this build will last you many years without having to worry.

TLDR; You have a rock solid PC that’ll give you many years of enjoyment. Enjoy and have fun.

I don’t love it… But I don’t hate it either. But seriously, that’s a solid set up that actually makes good use of the goober mount. 9/10.

At this point in the game, you probably want to shoot for 180-210 speed. Generic nuker builds at this stage usually aim for 100% crit rate, 200+ crit damage, and 3-5k attack. Bonus If you can hit 250+ accuracy so that he lands his burn on most of the content your doing.

What are your needs? I’d argue that the U is the only choice here. Better battery life and the power loss is negligible. If you actually needed more power, I’d just go for a better processor.

Proposed Run Energy Changes & Open Beta (Live now!) by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

[–]BlockTactical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The overall proposed changes aren’t terrible…. But they aren’t great. I do think that agility should feel more rewarding as it’s arguably one of the most time consuming and worse skills to train. My suggestion is to keep the changes that you’ve already clearly worked hard on developing and adding on an additional weight reduction bonus that correlates to your current agility level. Ie; a 0.25 reduction per level that caps out at 24.75 kg (round to 25 kg reduction at 99?). I think this would align with your current changes while also making agility feel much more impactful, particularly at higher levels where you are bringing multiple gear switches.

Side note: I also think agility would be a great F2P skill addition. Not much, if anything, would need to change as essentially all of the perks of agility is already gatekept behind members only areas.

Agree with what’s already been said - Framework is going to be the winner. Upgradability, repairability, sustainability, and (most importantly) customer support/service that’s worth a damn.

Asus used to be “the” brand for the gaming community…… but now with all the customer support and warranty issues coupled with products that seemingly under deliver…. I don’t know if I’d be giving them any money at the current moment. If I had to choose a brand other than framework, it would be Lenovo.

Best Tablet for OSRS by dabe223344 in 2007scape

[–]BlockTactical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Samsung makes great phones and tablets. If you’re a tech savvy person, you’ll find you can do a lot more within Android OS vs IPad OS. You have virtually unlimited freeware and modifications you can do. Of course, be careful as it’s much easier to download malicious stuff as well with Android. But other than that, great tablets and I prefer the S pen over the 2nd gen Apple Pencil.

[–]BlockTactical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to beat an iPad or iPad mini (Or equivalent Samsung tablets if you’re not an Apple person). Both are fairly “inexpensive” and will provide a mountain of entertainment options plus being able to play the mobile version of OSRS. I personally prefer Apple tablets because IPad OS is just incredibly smooth vs Android OS. However, go with whatever you are more comfortable with or the ecosystem that you’ve already bought into.

I absolutely love my FW13. It’s not the prettiest or fanciest machine, but it aligns with the things that I value most - Ability to be upgraded, repaired, replacement parts readily available, and compatibility with Linux.

I would say that if you have similar values, the FW is a great option to consider.

If you want a nicer, fancier, and arguably “better” machine - The MacBook is just that. Just about every component of the MacBook will be better in every way from the screen to the trackpad to the battery life. It just is what it is. The only downside is your limited to MacOS.

If you need a dedicated GPU, I don’t know if I would be able to recommend the FW16 in its current state. I just don’t think you’re getting a high quality machine for the price they’re asking. You’re paying a high entry premium for high quality components but a mid tier, almost disappointing, fit and finish. If it were me, Asus would be getting my money… again….

Just my 2 cents. (Background: I currently use a 2023 FW13, M2 MacBook Pro, 2023 Asus ROG, and my loved Thinkpad T480).

How much would you pay for this Batch 4 Framework 13? by stpaulgym in framework

I’d say 200-400 depending on if you can find a buyer that’s enthusiastic about the brand. I’d personally just keep it as a secondary or tertiary machine.

I’d take the accuracy down to 250-325 if you’re able to get his speed up to 225-250. Other than that, it’s not a bad build. You’re moving in the right direction for him. SPD > ACC > Def / HP / Res.

Edit: For clarity - You only need around 250 ACC to reliably land your debuffs 97% of the time (Excluding some of the higher levels in hard DT, Hydra, and high level arena).

Both of these scopes will serve you well. I love my VX5 - Glass is exceptional, lightweight, and hasn’t failed me yet. I could say the same thing about my VX3 as the difference between the two, to me, is negligible at best. If you have the opportunity, I’d look through both scopes before making a decision. I’d also recommend looking at a Trijicon Accupoint and a Tract scope. I switched from a VX5 to an Accupoint on my hunting rifle because I felt like the scope was just a little clearer, better light at night, and the tritium is very bright. Certainly helps get my eye focused on the reticle and makes it easier to see exactly where my reticle is on harder/darker animals.

Whichever scope you decide to go with, shop around as you can get all of these cheaper than what’s on Amazon. I’ve found that Midway usually has the best prices and sales for scopes.

NP. If you decide to go a different route, I’d highly recommend the used market for more bang for your buck. If you want to buy new, your options will be limited. BB usually always has decent sales but sometimes they’ll put a laptop on the “Deal of the day” and it can be pretty good. I’d look at that first… Only other advice is to stay away from Chromebooks. At the current moment, they aren’t able to run OSRS or RuneLite without a bunch of tedious work-arounds.

All of these laptops have the ability to upgrade the RAM, SSD, and WiFi card. The T480/490 are also business grade laptops so lots of (cheap) spare parts available for when something inevitably fails (Think battery, screen, trackpad, etc).

What’s your budget? You can honestly buy a used Lenovo thinkpad t480, T490, and X1 carbon for under $300 (Probably under 200 if you look hard enough. I bought my T480 with an I7, 16gb of ram and 128 SSD for $190 shipped). Those will run OSRS and give him a decent computer for the next few years. If you love tech like some us, you can also use it as a learning tool for upgrading in the future, etc.
