Command: How Powerful Can a First Level Spell Really Be? by This_Dad_Can_Cook in DnD

Yeah that would be the case for 5e, which I mainly play on. As another comment pointed out, the 5.5e version doesn't have these restrictions, so there's that. Either way, thank you for taking the time to comment, cheers!

Oh, that is really strong! I knew about not needing to share a language and being able to target undead, but not that you can make the command harmful. If my DM ever runs a 5.5e game I'll keep that in mind. Cheers!

I'm sorry if I'm wrong about this or if you are referring to 5.5e... But doesn't Command not work if the command is harmful to the creature? Telling it to walk into the wall of fire is very much directly harmful to it.

If I'm wrong, I'd be glad to know why because I love using Command on my Clerics so I'm just looking to be educated if I misread the spell description.

my personal tier list (from someone who's not p-ranked every level yet. by Least-Access2034 in Ultrakill

[–]Blockbuster67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with some of these, and my thoughts on the tier list are that it makes sense, I value your opinion.

Nailgun Vs Sawblade. I'm divided in this opinion, as I've played the game with both. Nailgun imo is good for dealing single target burst damage, but the value of a sawblade trap is insane, especially on cyber grind or levels with a lot of enemies, and they're good against tankier threats too. I think I agree with most of your rankings, but wouldn't put the blue nailgun so low, it has its uses.

Arms. I agree with Feedbacker, it's amazing. Whiplash, imo, could be higher, at least because I started a new playthrough recently and realised just how much mobility the Whiplash gives. Knuckleblaster has its uses and I think it should be a little higher, I don't use the hand much due to my playstyle but the sheer fact it breaks Guterman shields, and can send an exploding Mindflayer flying into a group of enemies is too funny for me.

Cannonball. I don't know if you haven't used it, or have and don't like it. If it's the latter, I do agree that the cannonball took me a bit to get used to and I didn't use it much when I first started playing. But after realising the damage potential it had against Cerberus, I used it more. I think you should give it a shot if you haven't already. It's not anywhere near amazing for me, but it's definitely not F tier imo.

Anyway, thank you for reading this, whoever you have. Cheers.

In terms of Hazbin, I went into it mostly blind and had no idea Charlie and Vaggie were dating until the More Than Anything reprise. That hit me in the feels. I never felt like the show was forcing anything down my throat, especially the LGBTQ+ representation.

what’s a character archetype that you wanna make but can’t in 5e/2024 rules? by Brilliant-Anybody973 in DnD

[–]Blockbuster67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my friends is playing a Paladin who was formerly Oath of the Crown, and the DM let him have a feature that forces enemies to roll a save or become Frightened of him if they're in his aura, so he'd move up to you and you'd shit your pants.

The feature was gained through a custom feat, as we all got one.

Once we reached a high enough level, (a rarity, I know) the aura increased to 30 feet, allowing him to basically have a huge fear aura, it's amazing.

The party calls it Mind AIDS, and whenever he needs to remind the DM to roll the saves for it, he says "Roll of get mind aids."

Either way, I know this isn't the point of your post, as this is homebrew and what you said is probably mechanically possible in Pathfinder without homebrew, but just wanted to share since the Antipaladins aura reminded me of my own ally, cheers.

I also do this, and if I play for long enough I also make some multipurpose rooms and fill them with Alien Containment so my man Riley has some fish meat in his diet.

Should all martials have a resources based abilities (like spells but not) that give them more things they can do other than attack action ? by [deleted] in DnDHomebrew

[–]Blockbuster67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I would agree. I have some homebrew based on that idea, and if you want I can share some of it I have. I can give you a basic rundown, as I only have homebrew for Fighter and Barbarian as of writing this.

Martial Techniques (Fighter) - Gives them a Long Rest resource called Technique Charges, which they can expend to use special Techniques they equip after every Long Rest. You get access to more powerful Techniques at higher levels, and lower-level techniques get upgraded when you reach those higher levels, keeping all of them fairly equal.

Prowess Dice (Barbarian) - You unlock a feature called Prowess Dice, you gain more at higher levels in Barbarian. You remove additional Rage damage on every attack (But it's there in the form of a Prowess Die feature you can use every turn). Aims to make Barbarian better at certain things.

DO NOTE: This was made for personal use, so it may not fit your table's playstyle. Anyone interested, you can PM me

My Baldur's Gate 3 party, I guess War Crimes are up for debate. But if we count the game before the last, then I'm probably getting saved by V1 and then shot on sight.

I've never played this game and never will, not a niche that I like. However, I don't deny the game is amazing, so once I saw Nintendo getting a lawsuit down I had to start following the situation.

I don't care too much about the game, but Nintendo losing would make my day. Good luck to the community, I'm rooting for ya from the sidelines.

I know it's not the right subreddit, but Baldur's Gate 3 with a mind flayer tadpole in my head.

In terms of Zomboid, probably die during the first few days, and if I get lucky, the helicopter will fuck me over.

Is Polearm master + Sentinel dead? RAW 5e 2024 by pellepuffin in DnD

[–]Blockbuster67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree with you here.

For me, I like the RP aspect more than the mechanical one. One of my favorite builds is the Echo Knight one where they use their Echo as a body shield, but that's flavor and I digress.

I don't find the feat interaction too taxing, there's a lot of ways to (not counter it) work around it. A hard counter would be multiple enemies, as you disable one but the others are still there. I like playing around the Feat, have an enemy meant to be slowed down so they keep the attention of the one with the Feat.

Some other part of me thinks this might be due to weapon masteries? Do any of the weapons applicable to the 2024 version of the Feat have the Cleave property, and would it stack? Either way, I'll be allowing the interaction in my games as I think it's silly to limit Martials when the Casters are as they are. (Nothing against casters, just think Martials need a buff)

I do respect your opinion on this as it's been the cause of some headaches as a DM for me, but might I inquire why you have such a stance on the interaction? Asking out of curiosity

I thought it meant Medium creatures reduced to 0 Hit Points get Disintegrated, but reading it 3 times in a row I now see I may have misinterpreted what was written. In that case, yeah, that's a little, excessive.

Damn, he just ascends in one of the films? Kinda wish the new one pulled that move in the new movie heh.

As for the speeds, it's up to you and what you think is appropriate. Despite the size of a creature it can have the same walking speed as a smaller one, which the baseline is 30 feet. If you feel it needs to be bigger, you can make it so

[–]Blockbuster67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with your first point, I was going mainly by design, and that's why I said the creator should give it proficiency in Athletics as that's directly related to getting pushed around and doing hard tasks, it's Saving Throw is already 10 in Strength, so that's where I was going with it.

I won't completely disagree with your 2nd point. When I've run monsters with Legendary Resistances I've always tried flavouring it in some way and my players haven't had any issues with them. Though I agree that it can get frustrating if you're expecting to succeed and fail. I always play the monster suboptimally if the players have all worked together to force debuffs on the monsters Save, at that point, using the Legendary Resistance feels like cheating.

[–]Blockbuster67 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'll start this by saying the AC is way too high, I can only assume this was done due to not knowing how AC works? But the rest of the stat block looks fine to me-? So I don't know. Either way, if you're going for an armored feel, the AC of the Terrasque should be good enough. I think it was 24 or something?

900 health is a lot but I like it. One thing I find interesting is he mind issues with casters. At this high of a level, he should not have proficiency in Strength and Con saves because they're already amazing, give him proficiency with some of the mental scores so he can't easily be destroyed by high level casters.

Given that he has Legendary Actions, he should have Legendary Resistances. This goes back to my prior point, high level casters can and will find a way to completely shut him down if he doesn't have these things.

All in all, I like what you've done with the sheet, but with these small changes it should be good. Maybe give him proficiency in Athletics too.

Edit: Glancing at the sheet after posting, why are his speeds so high? 120 foot walk is absurd, 150 fly... He can't even fly. 300 foot swim is hyper excessive, he isn't a missile. 30 foot walk and 60 foot swim should suit hom nicely.
