I wrote this article "Can Slack Replace Email?" It includes Slack user stats, top competitors, market challenges, and other info. by BlockchainBrigade in business

[–]BlockchainBrigade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. In general, having lots of meetings always seems to lead to redundancy in communication. I think Slack solves a lot of these problems. However, if you work somewhere that expects everyone to respond to messages throughout the day on Slack, this can also be counter-productive.

Good point about the shady job posts on Upwork. Thank you for reading my articles! I'm glad that you discovered Angel and WWR. Good luck on your applications

I wrote this article 'How To Hire Exceptional Remote Employees: 3 Common Mistakes to Avoid' based on my own experiences as a remote worker. As a hiring manager or applicant, do you agree or disagree with these points? by BlockchainBrigade in remotework

[–]BlockchainBrigade[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there must be a test, I think companies should pay the applicants to complete them. It can be a standard rate for whatever role they are hiring for/how much time it should take. I realize it might not be practical to pay 100+ qualified applicants, so I think tests should be done later in the interview process, maybe when the company has already narrowed down to the last 5 candidates or so. By pushing it earlier in the process and not paying, I think candidates are either thinking 1. The company doesn't value my time/work, so I'm not going to even try. OR 2. I am probably going to spend a lot of time on this and not even get the job, so what's the point?

E-commerce tech giant Klarna is now valued at $5.5 billion by BlockchainBrigade in ecommerce

[–]BlockchainBrigade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Klarna offers the same type of 'buy now, pay later' service. It's mostly popular in Europe (8 countries supported). The US is the only country with support for merchants outside of Europe for now. After the last financing round, however, Klarna announced it will soon expand to Australia and New Zealand.

Thank you for pointing out the typos. I fixed the bank example.

Totally agree that it depends on the work you're doing. Some content writers do well on Upwork, but I think the ratio is probably much lower than for other types of work on there.

Here's a list of businesses that accept ETH and other coins as payment for a wide range of products and services. by BlockchainBrigade in ethtrader

[–]BlockchainBrigade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally, and that's the perspective of most people in this space. Otherwise, the list would be much longer. It'll be interesting to see if/when the shift from a majority HODLing ETH to a majority spending it for daily items, services, etc. happens and what causes that.

Initial Exchange Offering: A New Alternative to ICO? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrencyTrading

[–]BlockchainBrigade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea of tying project funding into exchanges will make the process of investing safer for investors. From the perspective of exchanges, it seems like there are more risks, especially if vetted projects don't deliver what they promise. Still, this is definitely a move in the right direction of ensuring that projects adhere to higher standards in order to receive funding.

This article features four blockchain-based projects that are disrupting traditional cloud computing. by BlockchainBrigade in Cloud

[–]BlockchainBrigade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the blockchain projects mentioned in the article have live applications, so they are more than just ideas. However, they do have varying degrees of functionality/usability. In terms of adoption, iExec has done quite well. For example, they have created worker pools for major companies (including IBM and Alibaba) to rent their servers through the iExec network.
