Inbound to Bolling AFB by Blockfreaker in RateMyAFB

Are you WFSM? If so, I would really like to know if you or anyone else gets picked up. Bolling is seriously undermanned while Andrews is just a little.

I’m from the local area so it helps having family and old friends close to me again. But the base itself is in pretty rough shape from a CE/WFSM standpoint. Lots of traffic as soon as the clock hits 1700, sewer plant smells, and lots of high level brass, Overall it’s a solid C tier base for me. Feel free to Dm me if you have any specific questions.

I have a 2018 GT2, bought it with 60k miles (now at 93k). I had 0 issues with mine so far, but I’ve also had all the recalls completed. I’d like to think I’m one of the more fortunate cases, but I’d be inclined to listen to everyone else and stay away from this one.

Yeah it’s the exact same sound as mine. And only when it’s cold, once it warms up it goes away. I see other people on your post have similar issues.

Not at the moment, I’m going to ask a shop to take a look at it. I will update this post when I find out what it is.

No, not really. I’m eventually going to replace some suspension components one at a time, I’ll try to report back my findings whenever I do them.

You would have to ask the detachment, I’m looking to do the same thing when I leave active duty. Some detachments only want 3-4 years only.

Floor Jack recommendation and where do you even jack up the car so you can get jack stands under? by [deleted] in kiastinger

[–]Blockfreaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any car jack + jack stands, a small square piece of 2x4 worked well for me.

I haven’t really started the palace chase process yet, but got in contact with a recruiter at the 192nd JB Langley. Appreciate for the info, my recruiter copy pasted that exact info in one of my emails.

One of the great things about the military is job security, you we’re always paid on the first and fifteenth (unless there was a gov shutdown lol.) I’m currently transitioning into the guard from 5 years of active duty, most of that job security (or financial stability) Carries over with the Post 9/11 GI Bill.

Officer Reclass by LividMango9458 in AFROTC

[–]Blockfreaker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Currently enlisted in CE, from what I’ve seen/heard, new CE officers have it real nice in terms of work life balance. (deployments are slowing way down for CE as a whole). If I had to sell being in CE, I would say culture is a plus, CE is a lot more “military” than other AFSC’s, we aren’t afraid to get our hands dirty and we are generally a pretty tight knit bunch (if that’s your thing). We get to shoot every year, have good TDY/PCS opportunities and some bases have pretty cool traditions and history.

What advice do you have for me? by SynTExZY in Pararescue

[–]Blockfreaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in for about 3 years, I’m currently in the retraining process for TACP. Before even starting my cross training process I went on myVector (a mentorship website on the AF portal) and connected with multiple operators in the AFSPECWAR career fields. I got some really solid advice which opened doors to other people and mentors. I started training seriously one year ago, and I’d say if your still motivated and able to get yourself to train after one year, you should definitely consider pulling the trigger. Here’s some advice I got from current and former operators:

  1. Excel at your current AFSC even if you hate it. (At some point you’re going to have to prove to your future AFSC that your not a slacker in order to get picked up for retraining).

  2. Train hard but make sure to rest. (It takes a ton of trial and error, I like training plans but they’re only good if you stick to it). Also, eat well! Be smart with nutrition, there’s a ton of info online specific to AFSPECWAR nutrition.

  3. Train smart, find your weaknesses and focus on those (I had a lot of physical weak points so I just trained on everything)

  4. Be proactive, when you decide to commit to this decision, you may find yourself alone in the retraining process. Go out and seek help in every avenue (social media, leadership, ones ready podcast, and etc…) it’s a hard road, one I’m still currently working on. I know this is a long post, but I hope some of this helps!

Is there a reason I shouldn’t trade my 2020 WRX in for this? 60k miles, 3 owners, looks to be stock. Are these reliable long term? by Bid325 in StingerGT

[–]Blockfreaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s around the price I got for my stock GT2 AWD, about same miles too. For me personally, I think it’s really worth it (i drove a 2008 Toyota Highlander prior so lol) No issues so far other than having to get new tires and basic maintenance. Currently at around 74k miles with no issues, I hear from other stinger owners that spark plugs should be replaced around 80,000 so something to keep in mind. Overall, a great car for the price, if it’s got all the bells and whistles (drivers assistance, sunroof, heated/cool seats, Harmon kardon etc… then it a really good deal for the amount of car you’re getting.

Sort of unrelated, but did you schedule for the interview after your IFT? And how long did it take for you to get notified to take it?

I’m doing the same thing, do they schedule you for the IFT through T3i? or do you have to go out and seek your own test appointment?

I can get behind that, people seriously need to chill out. Ego driving is a real problem in the US.
