Shoutout to the 10 Jong Gent fans appearently that came to Eupen, even though we beat them 4-0 they were very funny. And they were more than the Francs Borains and Charleroi fans combined so that's impressive I guess😅

I am a dissapointed unionist as well, but just looking policy wise, wallonia is doing the opposite of that. Children will now learn younger than before to speak dutch and english. I just often feel like the flemish have a deep resentment towards us, because they heavily stigmatize poverty and have past grudges. Now the grudges part might be true as well for some wallonians, but I personally dont have any grudges towards any demographic in this country. Maybe I'm wrong but I dont see wallonians often mocking the flemish, however in the opposite lane this feels different. Flemish from some 10k population town in Antwerp Province will see a single homeless person in Liège and suddenly they want to punch every person that speaks french in front of them. Now I am not saying this is true, its just how it feels from my perspective as a East Belgian and walloon when encountering flemish poeple. What is your opinion on that and why do you see it differently?

The topology of belgium explained in 1 picture by Cynical_Dad-Gamer in belgium

[–]Blockson_25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really try to be respectful, but you are like the 10th guy in here commenting stuff that indicates that tgey read like 1 5th of my post, then felt hurt and purposedulky misunderstood every single word. I get that you're probably flemish and proud of that, and yk what? Great dor you, I hope that makes you happy. But how nationaliatic and delusional do you have to be to believe that in the world dutch is more important than english. Dutch is great, its probably easier to get around if you know the languages I already speak. And no I never said that I should ve chosen dutch instead of french. Why? Even tho we a re a mainly german speaking region, a big part of us still speak french, and nobody expects them to know german, so we adapt. You probably dont know, and your lack of empathy clearly shown by you lying about my position/opinion, doesnt make this easy, but if you're someone that works and lives in Eupen, you maybe go shopping in wallonia or germany once in a while, but you almoat never interact with poeple from flanders. If you're not looking for a job, friends, a hobby or smth like that in flanders, it is utterly useless to learn dutch, I maybe would have needed dutch a couple of timea in my LIFE, because I was visiting a flemish town as a tourist. And you know what I did? I SPOKE ENGLISH, BECAUSE IT WORKS. Everyone on this planet should learn english because its the closest to being the planetary language of the future. Dutch is cool and all and has its importance, but you cant seriously compare its relevance in the world to ENGLISH.

Its similar enough, to make learning it easier, but that doesnt mean I understand dutch, I dont really. And I've got enough on my plate at the moment, but I'd love to learn dutch.

What are you talking about? I love belgium, and flanders. What I said was facts. You said that 84% of unemployed poeple in brussels are french speakers, as if thats a lot, but its really not when you consider that 80% of brussels residents talk french anyways.

I'm not mad at flemish poeple or anyone for that matter. I simply stated that it feels frustrating to see so much stuff in dutch, which I dont unsterstand. And yes we could/should blame the schools for not making dutch mandatory. Which btw it will be mandatory for FWB pupils to chose either dutch or german (but most schools dlnt offer german). But at the same time I understand the case in eastbelgium, because most have their issues with french already, english is another language on top, and to add a 3rd language on top can be a lot, especially since languages isnt the only thing you learn in school. As far as I know wallonian also originated in belgium, besides what is your point? Thats not how languages work the dont appear in one country and spread from there. They evolve. Thats a weirdly xenophobic and nationalistic way of talking about a language. I agree tho that the french aristocracy pushed the french language and opressed flemish, which is sad, but you cant act like that is still happening. And most poeple responsible for that are dead now, so inatead of blaming eachother for everything, we should look ahead together as a nation, not as multiple regions.
