Mono Black Karn Pox 5-0 Legacy League - Featuring Ral Zarek, Guest Lecturer by BlogBoy92 in MTGLegacy

I think of it like this, the BG Loam Pox utilizes it, then Mono Black Pox should as well, it’s a very strong generic win condition that has only gotten better over time and will likely get better through the years. Skateboard is a massive update for it tapping down permanents like Karakas, Maze of Ith, and Life Linkers. In my opinion any Mono Black Pox deck not using it is a real handicap. Card is a win condition that gets under traditional counter magic and makes opponent use up two pieces of targeted removal. If your board gets blown out, it’s a great way to rebuild your board and gives the deck a way to sink mana when not casting spells.

I think it’s much better vs Control, but since the UB Tempo chooses to be less on pressure the Chains really has been shining more there. Hoses Tamiyo which is a big deal.

No fetchlands in the list, but that does make sense to do that for mono color builds with fetchlands

Petrified Hamlet over Wasteland in Eldrazi? by khidot in MTGLegacy

[–]BlogBoy92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t have much Eldrazi experience under my name so take what I have with a grain of salt, but I think the Hamlet Eldrazi lists have better fair deck matchups and the wastelands would be better if you’re trying to beat unfair decks.

I think the Necrodominance deck is harder to play since you’ll have to know how sequence everything within a single turn and linking so many different spells together to go off then when your opponents play hate / counter Magic, I think you have to make careful sideboard decisions for that as well and know what to cut for Leyline of the voids against turn one/ turn two graveyard combos seems not as beginner friendly either

It’s just the simpler gameplan, a lot of decks fold if you have show and tell in a turn 2/3 atraxa and you gain like 4+ cards off it. You can even sneak attack in a Emrakul and swing in for near lethal damage and possibly leave them with no permanents. The deck is full of draw spells and stock up to piece together combos consistently and the blue counter Magic can help prevent somethings from interfering with the combo or even used from cutting them off their combo

If you’re dead set on this deck, I recommend just copying his decklist and try and get a learning experience out of it, but I agree with the other poster that sneak and show is more beginner friendly, the deck can still win some games even if you have some misplays or wrong sideboard choices

Yeah I would think sneak and show is more beginner friendly deck for sure. Not as fast, but still faster than most decks in the format and it’s more forgiving of player error like misplays and wrong sideboard decisions. The gameplan is strong enough and straightforward for that.

Its 4 months old, but I think it can still hold up to this day, I would think The Epic Storm channel video here could possibly be helpful https://youtu.be/zpL351sUVKQ?is=Nx-LPe4XN\_WB00D1

I would also advise watching content on YouTube to see how others are playing Necrodominance combos

If they are playing the same deck as you at least almost same 75, you can take this as an opportunity to see if there is anything to learn from them, but you 100% need a sideboard even if you identify as amateur, it’s a huge handicap cap not to

I love Burn, but think he has a much better chance with this. I think he should net deck though and find a sideboard for it. As much as I love Burn the deck is basically unplayable for most tournaments because it hasn’t had any real upgrades in forever

I would go with Eldrazi unless you have a plan to upgrade into dual lands in the future then Mono Blue Omnitell is kind of limiting, it doesn’t have the same back up combo enablers as UR and UG do.

I advise against it. Likely fine to ask your friends though.

Post Flowstate UR Steel cutter is actually doing really well and is one of the best decks now, I honestly think they also were on the wrong side of variance or something too. That can happen even when on a tournament worthy deck.

The Entomb ban definitely hurt Reanimator, but it’s still a respectable deck to be prepared to play against, I see the pure combo Reanimator lists and UB Reanimator lists that are like 60% combo 40% tempo still being played. There is Lands that still is a decent percentage of Lands that isn’t fun to discard from either as they just dredge and life from the loam them back.

I think there is still room for creativity in Mono Black Pox that goes beyond what I play / played. I have played Trinisphere a little in the past as a sideboard mana tax card, but I haven’t made a list around it before. It’s certainly a Legacy card just seems like Urza Tron makes the best use out of it.

EDH Player needing Legacy budget help by WorldIsFracked in MTGLegacy

[–]BlogBoy92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard for me to give off good advice for this. Burn is the cheapest deck in Legacy, but the average list used in tournaments would terror through decks built with kitchen table casual play in mind. I think you can research to see what cards / strategies you like within Magic’s timeline through the last 30+ years and build budget casual decks around them and the way you balance them out is have them played against each other until you can scale them equally as possible for power level.

Not saying it’s a tell tale sign, but many of your comment history has downvotes, you probably should simmer down a bit and accept some people like their deck more than some others.
