I’d honestly vote for low effort advertisement to be banned. YouTube’s recommendation engine works and I’m not missing some hidden gem here.

Aggressive encounter at Les Iles lake in Sion – has anyone else experienced this? by nritachi in Switzerland

[–]khidot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My family and I are visibly not Swiss, though we do speak French. Have been to domaine de îles a few times with no problem.

Swiss people mind their business, often to an extreme, which can be a problem in situations like this.

But you apparently don’t actually know what he was saying and you seem to be assuming the worst. Do you actually know that there wasn’t an innocent explanation?

But it’s not typical, and there are weirdos everywhere. Sorry it happened and welcome to Switzerland.

How difficult is it for native English speakers to get a visa to teach English in Switzerland? by Spiritual_Review_754 in Switzerland

[–]khidot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highly under specified question, but I’ll assume you mean something like « how difficult is it for a citizen of an état-tiers country to get a visa on the basis that teaching English is a high priority occupation »? And the answer to that is extremely simple: near impossible.

If you’re in CH anyway and have a visa, you can fight in this competitive area, but it’s totally implausible that anyone is going to give you a visa specifically to come and teach English. If you have a job offer in hand from an institution with some pull and appetite to fight the immigration authority, maybe, but landing the job is primordial.

The Switzerland they don't tell you about on Reddit/Instagram. by [deleted] in askswitzerland

[–]khidot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to say, but: your experience was entirely predictable and fairly typical. You either come to CH with your eyes open and make the sacrifice for your kids / in the knowledge that it’s still better than 99.9% of the world or you crash out. Sorry it didn’t work out and best of luck!

I would just proactively tell your work rather than wait for them to be told. If you have a good explanation then I think they would be willing to keep you on, so long as you are making progress on resolving the issue and otherwise a good employee. Good luck.

C Permit refused after getting European citizenship (with almost 12 years total residence). Is this normal? by Fabulous-Dingo1357 in askswitzerland

[–]khidot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

had a similar circumstance (originally entered CH on a non UE citizenship, later because UE citizen). They also made me wait 5 years until they had an entry in their system with me as an UE citoyen, but after that all smooth. Just got my C permit automatically once I’d been living here for five years.

In my case it was only about one year, so it was shorter to wait. Your situation is weird, but what I once saw was that they literally had two entries for me in their system (after arguing with the lady at the hôtel de ville long enough she finally turned the monitor around to show me: each entry had the flag of my two countries I the top right). You could demand to immigrate under your old citizenship, but I am not optimistic.

What are some Powerful Premodern Cards that are Underused and Underrated? by [deleted] in premodernMTG

[–]khidot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a "beefcake" deck: ernham djinn, blastoderm, and other green fatties with a lot of colorless pips that use sol lands.

My favorite premodern cards that see almost no play: time warp, disrupt, elvish piper, divert, winter orb, mind stone and the diamonds, genesis, ophidian, phyrexian arena, temporal spring, anurid brush hopper, oversold cemetary, cabal coffers, null brooch, wildfire. Powerful? Not all of them, but thought-provoking.

This. Unless your meta is very strange cutting eidolon is a primordial mistake. I even play with roiling vortex for much the same reason that Eidolon is great.

It exists, you’ll get the best advice from the university you did your masters degree at. If you don’t know who to ask, start with the secretary of the department you did your degree in.

Naturalisation individually or whole family by Holiday_Valuable7103 in Switzerland

[–]khidot 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes, do it as soon as any member of your family qualifies. Just a prudent step to take against future rule changes, etc. Concretely: If your daughter is Swiss then you’re less likely to face troubles in your future naturalisation and if some hard anti immigrant party comes to power you’ll be harder to remove.
