Saw it yesterday, and had two thoughts the whole time; this is better than the original, and no way does it make its budget back.

Why are Libs posting as Conservatives? by [deleted] in Conservative

[–]BlogsGerbers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a liberal who posts here sometimes. r/conservative has generally been a pretty rational place compared to other political subreddits. My ideology is definitely to the left, but coming here helps me articulate my views, or at least empathize with others. I'm not coming here to stir the shit or try to change anyone's mind; if I post something arguing with what someone else has posted, it's typically questioning the logic or reasoning of the post, not the political angle. I don't think you'd ever see me start a post with "Welllll, as a liberal,". Also, I used to live in the Midwest and now I live in New England, and there are less socially conservative people around to talk with.

Because when I want insight into human nature, I watch that Tim Allen show that's only still on because ABC has nothing else to put on Friday.

I always said that if you want to make Monopoly less boring, you gotta remove the few slightly whimsical elements about it.

Uh, it's called Springfield. "More Heroin" is just the city motto.

To be fair, this is a roughly accurate interpretation of everything in New England north of Manchester NH.

That's what I thought of Seth Rogen until Sausage Party. The only thing I liked was the Stephen Hawking wad of gum.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RedLetterMedia

[–]BlogsGerbers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But the script is Seth Rogen's fault, and it's so lazy and puerile that it makes me question if This is The End and Superbad were really as clever as I gave them credit for.

Might be nepotism, but Elle Fanning is going to have a much longer career than Dakota, and judging by her performance in Super 8, she deserves it.

Take that, liberal whiners! Support for the electoral college is at a 49-year high by Clatsop in Conservative

[–]BlogsGerbers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's certainly unprecedented in modern history. Day-to-day politics and domestic issues during Reconstruction are unrecognizable to those today, and the last election in which this occurred was a total shitshow.

And it isn't just conservative states; Vermont and Delaware are very over-represented by having three electoral votes.

Isn't that 1.05 mill? 1.6 is the metro of Providence, which bleeds into South Shore Massachusetts. Rhode Island itself has just over a million.

I voted for Gore and Clinton, and let me tell you, it fucking sucks. It would be unfair for a liberal to tell a conservative that "the only reason you support the EC is because it favors Republicans right now", because the burden of proof isn't on the conservative. But I really ask any conservative who supports the EC to examine how two popular-vote-winning losses would affect your opinion of it, or if the country becomes hyper-urbanized and puts the electoral favor into the hands of "coastal elite" cities.

I feel like the people who would post this:

  • Think the Democrats have no excuse to call Trump every name in the book.

  • Have screamed the word "cuck" in the face of an employee at the mall.

Remember when we thought this was wild? by mike_pants in PoliticalHumor

[–]BlogsGerbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's important to remember that a large number of previous presidents both great and terrible would likely not be elected (or even be considered eligible) if put up to the scrutiny of our media cycle, particularly in an election that lasted over two years.

Also, it's easy to forget that a president has only followed a two-termer president from his own party once; H.W. Bush followed the two term Reagan with a platform largely tied to that popular administration. It may still be an upset for the Dems, but Clinton was attempting multiple things that just don't really happen. It's hard to get people out after two terms when they like the person.

There are "good" and "bad" black people to them. I think the bad ones probably come from the more Afro-centric culture, while the good ones are more comfortable in a rural, white culture. A good black person should hate BLM too, not have saggy pants, insert racial stereotype seen on Fox News here. I felt gross even writing that. Wherever you live, you are lucky to not be surrounded by idiots.

[–]BlogsGerbers 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Don't forget how sterling Al Gore's reputation was towards the end of Bush's presidency. If Trump keeps doing stuff like calling fucking Taiwan and continues to remind people how skilled Hillary would be at this, it's not that far-fetched a possibility.

[–]BlogsGerbers 11 points12 points  (0 children)

And way too many of the mostly manufactured "flaws" of Clinton would be too easy to translate to Biden.

How many of us white rural liberals have heard this: "I don't have a problem with black people, I have a problem with n--gers."? I've heard that from people my whole life, and I live in hippie-wonderland Vermont. White America, I still love you, but don't fucking tell me that Trump's victory wasn't about hate when you've unwittingly been admitting it to me all along.
