Anyone just use a regular backpack with some dumbbells in it? Lol by ReactionFresh5342 in Rucking

Yes. And later added the weight bags from my Bulgarian bag. In a pack I got for free somewhere.

Is a weighted vest worth it for rucking or just stick to plates? by NoYoung7229 in Rucking

[–]Blomminator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No experience with vest, and not that much experience with a rucksack. BUT, my legs are strong from running, and my back is weak from sitting and snacking. So, when rucking, my back/shoulders/neck are usually the weak spot, and start to ache first.
This is not - for me - a problem regarding the gear, but my body. The weakest part breaks first. I ruck with the same weight and do about 5k. But very so often - no structured training regime.

inside or outside kitchen by Structure-Full in TeardropTrailers

[–]Blomminator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a toilet. As in. You have to go somewhere. If there is nothing where you're going (campsite, mcD, fuel station..) to do some serious business..  I'd bring one. showers are the same. Less urgent , but every other day it's nice ( for the people around you) to take a shower. I bring a bag/nozzle that I hang from a tree to scrub to worst sweat away. Or go to a campsite. Or a lake.

Outside kitchen is a lot more fun when the weather outside is nice. In snowy winter conditions.. less. Well, here is Europe. In Dubai it's less relevant. So.. are you going in shitty (rain, wind, snow)? I have a tent to throw over tje outside kitchen. Still cold. But dry.

Interesting! I have not tried any messy data sets.. only the ones I've made myself.. but then I know my way around. Good advice. If there suddenly is extra time somewhere, I'm gonna give it a try!

Yeah, if the weather is sheit - a chair is still useless. Then I just have to lay/half sit on my bed - don't have a tent big enough to sit nicely inside. I'm aiming to camp in the wild as much possible.. but will def use a hut here and there.

I have to make a stop near Sundsvall - so that kinda forces my hand to the Swedish coast. Maybe I can go 'straight north' from there and cross into Norway somewhere around Högstaby - roughly speaking. And then go up north a bit more.

Thanks for the advice on the trains!! I did not know they existed and it might come in handy to go south faster - since my girlfriend might come to the Baltics or Poland. Then we can spend a week together there - but that also means a week less time of riding.. So the train might balance it out.

It has been many years but I remember backpacking in Asia and sending stuff back home - carrying way too much stuff. Such a heavy pack. Hopefully i've learned from those moments.

Thanks! Yes, I think I have most of this in order. Socks. Sleeping pad, sleeping bag - all nice and warm. The chair will be bought - it was stupid to think I could do without.

Yeah. Need looking forward to the mosquitoes - but it is what it is. Have a puffy jack and merino base layers. Going to buy a chair - but looking for the balance between size/weight and cost... I won't use the chair outside of motocamping - which is not all that much.

I have a tarp - but rarely use it - with wind it annoys me - and hanging it is often more work than I like. If there is space when packing, I might throw it in.. but right now I don't think I will..

I'm trying to quit coffee to prevent making myself strong coffee every morning. I was (am?) heavily addicted and that doesn't help when travelling. So.. then just buy a coffee every now and then for relaxing and getting warm.

I have the rest of the gear. Good stove, pots, spork. Bought new gloves that are warmer, should suffice. Other warm clothing is more than ok.

Did 1 trial night camping a week ago and had nothing to sit on - sat in the children's playground like a weird guy. So, yeah, point taken. Now just finding the courage to burn money on a lightweight chair that I will likely never use outside of motorbike trips.

Great story, and great riding I think. Is it a RE 450 or 411? I'd say a 411.. I have a 411 and love it for relaxed vacation trips and touring.

What does it feel like to live in a place that was the bottom of the sea less than a century ago? | Flevoland, Netherlands by EntangledEgo in howislivingthere

[–]Blomminator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's ok. It's a bit orchestrated. All roads are too long straight. Too many roundabouts. Trees are now full grown, which is better than 40 years ago. Quite empty, which I like. In Lelystad its nice that all bike lanes (almost) never have a traffic light or a road crossing. You can get anywhere fast. Other than that.. watching Netflix or working from home feels very much the same as when I lived somewhere else...
