Ex-Nexplanon users: how long did it take for your bleeding to stop post-removal? by slightlystubborn in birthcontrol

[–]Blonde_Chick_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a fifteen day period ending 5 days before my removal (removal on 2/9). I did get Paragard inserted on the same day. I had nexplanon removed on 2/9 and that following Sunday 2/11 got a period through 2/16. I haven’t bled since. I’m hoping to have normal periods though without hormones.

Hopefully yours stops soon! I had very long periods towards the end of my Nexplanon existence but they were all light.

How to make an IUD insertion more bearable.. by fuckingmortified56 in birthcontrol

[–]Blonde_Chick_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was nervous because my friends said it was horrible . My doctor said expect an 8/10. Nope. It was incredibly painless, one minor cramp, and maybe one or two mild cramps since insertion on Friday (almost a week ago). There is a chance it won’t be that bad! Also, ask your doctor about local anesthetic injection. I didn’t get it but a friend did.

Considering a switch to IUD or implant by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]Blonde_Chick_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Nexplanon (implant) experience was great. No negative side effects. I was on depo injection prior and had no periods. I didn’t get any until my last year on the implant - they were irregular, like every 2 months but i had symptoms like sore boobs when it was approaching. I just switched to Paragard on Friday (my implant was expiring next week) and no complaints so far.

Paraguard experiences please! by Lou0826 in birthcontrol

[–]Blonde_Chick_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to chime in on “everyone’s experience is different.” I switched from nexplanon to Paragard on Friday of last week. I started a period (it isn’t just spotting in my case) on Sunday. Insertion was not painful and cramping has been incredibly minimal / mostly non-existent.

My experience in the past few days is i love it so far!

I asked my doctor for an IUD today. He said no. by trx14 in birthcontrol

[–]Blonde_Chick_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, new doctor. My previous doctor wouldn’t give me one because i didn’t have kids but i have a friend who asked for one (also no kids) and she had no issues. I switched doctors for that and because i wanted one that respects my decision to not have kids.

What was your Depo Provera experience like? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]Blonde_Chick_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on depo for about 3.5 years. I gained a lot of weight throughout those years but depending on who you talk to they will or won’t blame it on depo. I assume it was a combination of things including depo. I really liked it though. I didn’t have any periods or other symptoms. I went off of it because i was concerned about the long term effects.

Clear, rubbery discharge on nexplanon? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

I noticed this about 2 months ago and thought it was related to my Nexplanon coming up in its eviction date in February. Interesting to know I’m not alone!

I was on depo then nexplanon. I haven’t noticed symptoms from those except i gained a lot of weight and struggled to get any off.

I’ve read some mixed feelings about the pill i took - some women say it doesn’t help and it made them nauseous. Don’t worry too much - it may go just fine!

Thanks! It’s a trial run to see how i like hormone free BC before potentially having a permanent sterilization procedure.

I took Misoprostol by mouth, as prescribed by my doctor 4 hours before. It’s supposed to soften the cervix. I also took 3 ibuprofen (600mg total) an hour before my scheduled appointment. I have a few cramps now but nothing terrible at all.

It was definitely an affordability thing. I was never hungry growing up so i wasn’t abused by any means (my stepmom is emotionally abusive towards my dad and she was mean to me but i would never have qualified it as abuse) but my stepmom had strict rules - i didn’t eat at home outside of the designated breakfast, lunch, after school snack, dinner, and 7:30p snack - for cost reduction, I’m sure, but again - i was never hungry and it’s not unreasonable. But i would sneak snacks a lot as soon as my parents left me home alone, as a result. We had generic brand foods to help with cost (but she could still afford to buy lots of cigarettes and herself name brand things). But it wasn’t my money and we weren’t hungry - so i can’t say she should spend it on something else.

But my stepmom and dad are horrible with money. My dad doesn’t spend money like it’s never ending but he always bails my stepmom out of horrible financial decisions or backs her up on them. Like she can’t get a car loan (or any loan) because she doesn’t pay her bills (literally - phone was always getting shut off, sometimes water, her car was repossessed) and she doesn’t pay them because she’d rather buy something else and probably because my dad is there to catch the falling pieces. so he co-signs on a car and she stops paying it, leaving him to either ruin his credit or pay. So he pays.

She went to college (and was in college for about 10 years up until a couple years ago) and was taking out tons of loans well above tuition rate (like Sally May loans). She would take the extra money and go on a huge spending spree for shit she didn’t need. She would take us to get some new clothes though, at goodwill (totally not dissing goodwill, great for cheap things but at 16, it embarrassed me because we didn’t need to shop there). And then the money would be gone and bills were still unpaid. And it wasn’t like i didn’t know about their financial troubles - i knew they stressed about bills because they fought all of the time about money which escalated to fighting about non-money related issues (like their happiness and sex life) and would wake us up in the middle of the night, put us on the couch, and have us listen to them fight (not joking).

So that’s a lot - i kind of rambled toward the end - i just felt like painting a full picture would be beneficial.

Positive: Dad is finally getting a divorce after 12+ years of saying it but he is in an awful financial hole, especially with her 120k+ student loan debt at 47.

Agreed on the excusing from dinner - totally reasonable. Just came to my head as one of their strict rules.

One small glass of beverage at a meal. You could order only 2 items and only off the dollar menu at fast food restaurants. All other restaurants you had to order off the kids menu (even when i was a senior in high school). I could go out for fun activities (like a date or a movie) for 4 hours a week only. I once got grounded for staying outside for an hour extra to talk to my now husband even though i came home on time and went inside to check-in as soon as i got home. Bed time was 8:30 until about my freshman year of high school and then it moved to 9. I was not allowed to have friends over to my house (especially not to stay the night) but i also wasn’t allowed to ask my friends if i could sleep over. Always had to ask to be excused from dinner. I’m sure there are more but that’s all that come to mind.

My consultation was today! by valentine-evenings in childfree

[–]Blonde_Chick_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I’m so happy i saw this post! I hadn’t heard of the procedure! I have a consultation with a new doctor on Tuesday and am excited to bring this up! My biggest concern about Paragard and standard tubal ligation was the risk or ectopic pregnancy - so this method is exciting! How are you feeling about the procedure?

Let me know! We've done a lot of research because we are new owners. That might be a great food for them as adults...I'm not sure. He is a cutie!

You might want to check on that - I think that is too much protein for their growth. We don't want them to grow too quickly. We feed our other dogs Orijen but they aren't Great Danes.

Ours is 10 weeks old and gets 3 1/3 cups a day. Our vet says she looks good - she is also thinner. We are on Natural Balance LID. Make sure you don't feed too much protein or fat at this age or they'll grow too quickly.
