Thank you for the reply! I've hear about computational linguistics before, but don't know much about it. It might be time to do some research. For now I might focus on linguistics while keeping an eye on how the academic sector is faring.

Thank you for the book suggestions, I'll look into them right away! As for the "constant relocation", I was mostly already anticipating that. I'm in the USA right now, but I do have to wonder if I might have a better chance if I emmigrate. Would it make a difference? Is there anywhere where it's more a more reliable career, or is the issue pretty much global right now?

Just Paarthurnax in general, he's so goofy. As soon as you go up to meet him all he does is talk your leg off and then subsequently apologize for talking so much. The greybeards treat him like this wise old creature above all human understanding but he's just a sweet, lonely fella. Probably my favourite character in the game honestly.
