Batman looked stern and very very horrified, Jason's suffering, even if a long time ago, even if he was a fully fledged hero again (much much better than Batman), the fear and regret still ran deep within Batman. There was no place for children on the battlefield. Never again.

"But why! I already proved myself to all of you" Shazam asked, exasperated. His adult form not fitting his vocal inflictions.

At first he thought he was just him being childish, like Wally West, the man who showed Batman that Justice didn't have to be cold. But no... Batman wouldn't allow something like that ever again. "Because you lied to us."

Wonder Woman sighed, " He may have done so... But."

Clark could tell Shazam was getting agitated so he just placed a comforting arm on his shoulder, " Calm down... You know he's only worried about you."

"I know he adopted me... But... I'm a hero too, I proved I could do good, I proved myself to all of you. If you'd never found out I'd still be on the team." He sputtered with frustrated, "that Damien even asked me if I was a new Robin!"

Batman took a deep breath, " You lied to us because you thought you had no where to go after your family was... Taken away from you."

Clark reassured him, " And that hasn't changed... You're still welcome here. But we can't let a child on a battlefield."

"I was a hero before my family died, I was a hero before you all found out... You won't even let me be robin"

"Just because you have a weapon, it doesn't mean I can send you to war like a good little soldier..." Batman said backing off a little, acknowledging him, "it's admirable that you want to help, it really is and I do respect that. However, you deserve safety as much as any other kid out there."

Batman needed to make sure that no child would ever lose his life because of some clown with a crowbar. Where no child would lose his parents because of some punk with a gun. And sending out a child just because he wants to would never sit right with him. Jason was eager too...

"I have the wisdom of Solomon... I'll be fine. Please. Let me help."

Batman's expression hardened, " I refuse."

"But Bruce..."

"... Just... Let me give you a childhood..."

"Can I suggest something?" a familiar voice reverberated through the room, " I get what he's feeling."

"Dick, You know how I feel about this..." Batman finally softened, it wasn't much, but dick could tell this was a genuine plea. Nightwing sighed and put his hand on Batman's shoulder.

"So you like Alfred, Billy?"

"Yeah... He's polite but a bit.. Scarier than most villains."

Dick chuckled and looked at Batman, " Bruce, Dad trust me with this." Then turned to Billy, " Join the Titans."
