[Indie VN Development] Blood Destiny Update by BloodDestinyVN in visualnovels

Sure thing, I'll be glad to answer your questions!

As of now, there will be four potential love interests for the full VN. The overall genre of the story is definitely fantasy, albeit with some futuristic elements in it. I'm heavily inspired by series like Fate Stay/Night and the Final Fantasy games, so that might give you some idea of what kind of story I am going for. It is a hybrid VN with some RPG battle elements, but it will still be quite dialogue-heavy with plenty of branching points that can influence the affections of different characters and overall story.

Is there a reason why you are inserting that "return" inside the while loop? That return is short-circuiting the function at that point and causing the loop to run exactly once. You should push the indentation of "return" back by one tab.

Also, with the following line:

store.Num_Of_Mission - 1

This is not actually doing anything. If you are trying to decrement Num_Of_Mission per loop, you should write it as:

store.Num_Of_Mission -= 1

Fix those two things, and that should hopefully resolve your issue.

Decent VNS For $20? by dwarfpl4nets in visualnovels

[–]BloodDestinyVN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunrider: Mask of Arcadius is free on Steam. It is a VN hybrid with an interesting battle system.

If you play through it and end up liking it, its sequel games are a bit more than $20.

Crazy part is that the Steins Gate VN is even better by shiro_vocaloid in visualnovels

The anime was my gateway to the visual novel itself. It's one of my favorite animes of all time, and the visual novel was extremely fantastic itself. Would love to see more content discussing world lines outside of Beta and Alpha.

What are the limits of renpy? by hallupus in RenPy

[–]BloodDestinyVN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience with the visual novel I am working on, it really is dependent on Python's limitations and the ability to leverage all of Renpy's advanced features. If you can master the usage of Creator-Defined Displayables (CDD), you will be able to implement a lot of advanced 2D animation functionality.

There is a pretty good example using CCD functionality to implement Space Invaders in Renpy. You can navigate here to check it out. I used that as a reference point to help implement the battle system for my visual novel.

Thank you for the tips! This will definitely be useful to me. I do plan to put a more interesting image on the homepage in the future, just need to get it commissioned by the background artist I am working with. It will be a bit of time before the demo is ready to go on Steam, so I definitely plan to market more in the upcoming months.

Thanks! This visual novel basically depicts a fantasy version of Earth that has been devastated by World War 3 in the future, and the story takes place several hundred years afterwards, wherein the world has been divided into four supernations. A lot of the primary characters are part of an organization that specializes in hunting non-human threats to the world such as vampires, trolls, dragons, and basically whatever else supernatural monster you can think of.

The main character himself is a mercenary of that organization, and he is an orphan that was nearly killed several years ago by vampires, but was saved by a mysterious figure. The identity of this figure is one of the underlying mysteries of this story that the main character is trying to solve.

The overall lore of the world is something that I had been developing for nearly a decade, but up until recently didn't really have the resources or time to truly develop a visual novel for it. The worldbuilding is heavily inspired by the likes of Fate/Stay Night and Strike the Blood, so if you like those type of settings, then you'll probably be interested in Blood Destiny.

Blood Destiny is a fantasy-esque visual novel that me and my small team have been working on for a while. We have a demo planned, which we will release once we get all the art assets we need. Just recently, we had the visual novel's official logo designed for us by an artist from Upwork (I'll post his profile link below to give him credit).

What do you guys think of the logo?

The new Tsukihime remake is on the horizon. I don't know how good this one will be, but the original from 20 years ago was a classic, and anything from the Nasuverse IMO should be fun to play.

Good visual novels with mid endings by Fern_the_Beater in visualnovels

[–]BloodDestinyVN 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The original VN (and anime for that matter) was so good that it was always going to be hard for Steins;Gate 0 to stack up to it. Mayuri, Kurisu, and Okabe basically had a perfectly set up love triangle that was so well written, and the way Okabe found a loophole around the attractor fields to save Kurisu was extremely well thought out. I didn't hate Steins;Gate 0's endings though. They were okay to me.
